The injuries continue to mount for the Brewers. Outfielder Carlos Gomez, who strained his hamstring Friday night, has been placed on the 15-day DL, and shortstop Alex Gonzalez is expected to join him very soon.

Gonzalez was carried off the field on Saturday after buckling his leg on a slide into second base. He'll soon undergo an MRI, and Tom Hauridcort of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel tweets that a trip to the disabled list is forthcoming.

The Brewers were already compromised by the season-ending injury to Mat Gamel, and now they'll be without two up-the-middle regulars. Both will be missed. Gomez, besides providing plus defense in center, is hitting a useful .280/.321/.480 on the season, and Gonzalez is hitting well enough at .250/.318/.450 while capably manning one of the most premium positions on the diamond.

These latest injuries mean regular duty for Nyjer Morgan and Cesar Izturis.
