The Patriots placed Wheatley (knee) on injured reserve Saturday, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.
Wheatley showed up on Friday's injury report after being a limited participant in practice. He'll now have to sit out for the next four games and will be eligible to return against the Colts on Nov. 12.
