Willson announced his retirement Wednesday, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.

Willson being cut by Seattle just one day after signing with the team was a strange occurrence, but the veteran tight end's retirement explains things. After joining Seattle as a fifth-round draft pick back in 2013, Willson spent the first five seasons of his career with the team before logging a stint with Detroit in 2018. Then, Willson resurfaced with the Seahawks for 13 contests from 2019-20, while also suiting up for three games with the Ravens.
