Guerrero went 2-for-3 with a walk, a home run and two RBI in Wednesday's 3-1 win over Atlanta. The first baseman struck out against Spencer Strider in the first inning, but Guerrero was perfect the rest of the day and got his revenge on the right-hander with a no-doubt solo shot in the sixth inning that traveled 412 feet to left field. It was Guerrero's first homer of 2025, but he's been productive with a .292/.373/.389 slash line, seven runs and 10 RBI in 19 games.... See More ... See Less

Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: First day off Thursday
Guerrero is not in the lineup for Thursday's tilt in Boston. It's the first day off this season for Guerrero, who is slashing .288/.367/.346 with no home runs in his first 13 contests. Will Wagner will cover first base and bat fifth for the Blue Jays in Thursday's series finale.... See More ... See Less -
Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Hits three singles Wednesday
Guerrero went 3-for-5 with one run scored in Wednesday's 2-1 extra-innings win over the Red Sox. Guerrero reached base three times and scored one of the Blue Jays' two runs on the same day his 14-year, $500 million contract extension became official. It was his fifth multi-hit game of the season, four of which have come over his last six outings. Guerrero has yet to hit a home run and has started the 2025 campaign slashing .288/.367/.346 with six walks, five runs, three doubles and four RBI across 60 plate appearances.... See More ... Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Inks massive contract extension
Guerrero and the Blue Jays agreed Sunday on a 14-year, $500 million contract extension, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports. Guerrero will be a mainstay in the Toronto lineup for many years to come, inking a lucrative deal to remain with the Blue Jays through the 2039 campaign. The first baseman has produced a career .288/.363/.499 slash line with 160 home runs over six-plus seasons with the team, which has earned him the third-largest contract in MLB history. Guerrero is batting .256/.333/.333 with three doubles, four RBI and three runs scored over 45 plate appearances in 10 games this season.... See More ... See Less -
Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Two hits in win vs. Baltimore
Guerrero went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI on Friday against Baltimore, as the Blue Jays won 8-2. Guerrero doubled in the third inning and was stranded there by his teammates, but he helped break the game open for the Blue Jays in the bottom of the fourth, chasing starting pitcher Charlie Morton along the way. The first baseman delivered a sacrifice fly that scored Nathan Lukes and gave the Jays a 4-2 lead, as they eventually cruised to an 8-2 win. Guerrero mashed a year ago with a .323/.396/.544 slash line and, he will hope to replicate that success as he potentially heads to free agency this winter. The superstar recently turned just 26 years old and has been a full-time major leaguer since 2019.... See More ... See Less -
Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Proposed 15-year deal
Guerrero told ESPN's Enrique Rojas and Ernesto Jerez that his representation's final offer to the Blue Jays during contract extension negotiations was for 15 years and less than $600 million. It's not clear what the Blue Jays' final proposal was, but Guerrero has said previously that the two sides were not close. He will turn 26 later this month, so it's not a surprise that he was seeking to match the length of the contract given to Juan Soto, who is a few months older than Guerrero. Teams in recent years have been reluctant to hand out megadeals to righty-swinging first basemen, so it will be interesting to see whether Vlad Jr. will be able to get the dollar figure he's seeking next offseason when he reaches free agency.... Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Slated to bat second this season
Blue Jays manager John Schneider plans for Guerrero to bat second and Anthony Santander to hit third this season, Hazel Mae of Sportsnet reports. Guerrero began last season in the No. 2 spot but wound up hitting third for the bulk of the campaign. Schneider has not decided on a leadoff man or cleanup hitter, noting that Bo Bichette is an option for both spots "depending on who we're facing." Seemingly, George Springer is another prime candidate to hit ahead of Guerrero.... See More ... See Less -
Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Unlikely to see much time at 3B
Blue Jays manager John Schneider indicated Wednesday that he doesn't expect to use Guerrero much at third base this season, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports. The Blue Jays have been open to the idea of using Guerrero more at the hot corner. However, there's currently not an obvious alternative at first base to push Guerrero to third base and maximize the team's offensive potential. Vlad Jr. is still likely to make an occasional start at the hot corner, but fantasy managers shouldn't be counting on him picking up third base eligibility on platforms where he doesn't already have it.... Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: No extension before deadline
The Blue Jays and Guerrero were unable to reach a contract extension prior to Guerrero's Feb. 18 deadline, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports. Slated for free agency after the upcoming season, Guerrero does not want to discuss a long-term deal during spring training or the regular season, thus the self-imposed deadline of Feb. 18, which is the day of the Blue Jays' first full-squad workout. When asked whether the two sides came close to a contract extension, Guerrero simply said, "no," adding that while he is still willing to discuss a deal with the Blue Jays after the season, they will now have to compete with 29 other teams. Guerrero will earn $28.5 million in his walk year.... See More ... See Less -
Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Extension talks ongoing
Blue Jays general manager Ross Atkins said Friday that the club will "continue to work" on signing Guerrero to a long-term contract extension, Rob Longley of the Toronto Sun reports. It's not earth-shattering news but is at least a confirmation on Atkins' part that negotiations with his star player are ongoing. Guerrero said on the Spanish-language Abriendo El podcast in December that the Blue Jays' offer "was not even close to what we are looking for," and Bob Nightengale of USA Today reported in January that the two sides were at least $100 million apart. The 25-year-old Guerrero has said he will not discuss an extension during spring training, so the two sides have until Feb. 18 to work something out. It does not appear at this juncture that a deal is close.... See More ... See Less -
Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Avoids arbitration with Blue Jays
Guerrero agreed to a one-year, $28.5 million contract with the Blue Jays on Thursday to avoid arbitration, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports. Guerrero will return to Toronto in 2025 with a well-deserved $8.6 million raise. The 25-year-old produced a career-high .323 average last season while adding 30 home runs, 103 RBI, 98 runs scored and two stolen bases over 616 at-bats in 159 games. Guerrero finished sixth in the AL MVP voting in 2024, while his 5.5 WAR ranked 11th in the AL amongst hitters. The team has been open to potentially moving Guerrero to third base in 2025, but regardless of position, he remains one of the best players in baseball.... See More ... See Less -
Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Team open to move to third base
The Blue Jays are open to moving Guerrero to third base next season if they're able to acquire a first baseman this offseason, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports. Heyman lists Pete Alonso as the bat the Blue Jays could bring in to force a position switch for Guerrero. Vlad Jr. made 11 starts at the hot corner this season and was an everyday third baseman during his rookie year back in 2019. How eager Toronto might be to move the slugger across the diamond on a full-time basis isn't clear, but it might be considered for the opportunity to add the right bat.... See More ... See Less -
Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Another three-hit effort Sunday
Guerrero went 3-for-5 with an RBI in Sunday's loss to the Rays. All the knocks were singles, but it was still Guerrero's fourth three-hit performance in the last week. The 25-year-old is raking to close out a mostly disappointing season for the Blue Jays, and through 17 games in September he's slashing .348/.416/.536 with three homers, 11 RBI and 15 runs.... Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Reaches 30-homer plateau
Guerrero went 3-for-4 with two solo home runs, an additional run scored and a walk Thursday against the Rangers. Each of Guerrero's blasts went for over 400 feet, raising his season homer total to 30. The first of those homers snapped a 49 at-bat homer-less streak. It was the first multi-homer game of the season for Guerrero and the 19th time he's collected at least three hits in a game. The veteran first baseman stands just one RBI shy of his second 100-RBI season, while his .322 average is a career best and ranks second in the majors behind only Bobby Witt.... See More ... Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Rips three hits in loss
Guerrero went 3-for-5 with a double, one RBI and two runs scored in Tuesday's 13-8 loss to the Rangers. Guerrero has hit safely in nine of his 12 games in September, but this was just his second multi-hit effort of the month. He had seven such games over the last 11 contests of August. The first baseman is slashing .322/.397/.545 with 28 home runs, 97 RBI, 94 runs scored and two stolen bases over 148 games this season, and he still has time to chase down his third 30-homer campaign.... Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Youngest Jay to 500 RBI
Guerrero went 1-for-3 with a walk, two runs scored and an RBI in Saturday's 7-2 win over the Cardinals. With his RBI single in the seventh inning, the 25-year-old Guerrero became the youngest Blue Jay ever to record 500 career RBI. He also reached that plateau in 806 career games, with only Carlos Delgado (714 games) getting there quicker in franchise history. Guerrero has slowed down a little in September, going nine straight games without recording multiple hits, but on the season he's still slashing .320/.394/.545 with 28 homers, 96 RBI and 92 runs.... Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: In Tuesday's lineup
Guerrero (toe) will start at first base and bat third in Tuesday's game against the Mets. Guerrero required X-rays after fouling a ball off the toes on his left foot during Monday's loss to the Mets, but he remained in that contest and is back in the lineup a day later. The first baseman is slashing .392/.465/.750in the second half.... See More ... See Less -
Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Avoids serious injury
Guerrero was sent for X-rays during Monday's game against the Mets after fouling a ball off his toes on his left foot, but he remained in the game after the results returned negative, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports. Guerrero walked off the field gingerly and was spotted heading down the tunnel to the clubhouse following his third at-bat of the game, but he appears to have avoided a significant injury. The team will likely re-evaluate the slugger Tuesday morning to determine whether he'll be ready to go for the second game of the series. Spencer Horwitz would be the obvious choice for a start at first base if Guerrero is forced to sit.... See More ... See Less -
Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Four-hit effort in loss
Guerrero went 4-for-5 with a double, a two-run home run and a second run scored in Tuesday's 10-9 loss to the Phillies. The first baseman led a 16-hit barrage for the Blue Jays and added his 28th homer of the season off Taijuan Walker in the sixth inning, but it wasn't enough. Guerrero is once again one of the hottest hitters in the majors, racking up seven multi-hit performance over his last nine contests while slashing .500/.550/.806 over that stretch with five doubles, two home runs, eight runs and eight RBI.... Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Receiving Sunday off
Guerrero is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Twins. Guerrero started the previous eight games and will get a day off Sunday after going 14-for-31 (.452 average) with four doubles and a homer during that span. Spencer Horwitz will take over at first base while Davis Schneider receives a turn at designated hitter.... See More ... See Less
