The Nationals designated Rosario for assignment Monday.

He's clearing out to make room on the 40-man roster for top prospect James Wood, who was promoted from Triple-A Rochester. The 32-year-old put up a lowly .450 OPS in June and slashed just .183/.226/.329 over 235 plate appearances on the season for Washington. Rosario will clear waivers and become a free agent in the next few days, and he should be able to find another club willing to give him a shot.
