Rutgers vs. Penn State updates: Live NCAAF game scores, results for Saturday

Game Recap

The Penn State Nittany Lions won the last time they met up with the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, and they shouldn't regret having come to the reunion, either. Penn State enjoyed a cozy 23-7 victory over RU Saturday.

The Nittany Lions' offense came in ready to rumble, picking up 17 points in the first half. RU wasn't quite able to keep up, and the score was 17 to nothing heading into the break. Penn State coasted a bit in the second half, relying primarily on their first half lead, but they still walked away with the win.

No one had a standout game offensively for Penn State, but they got scores from RB Devyn Ford and WR Parker Washington. More help came courtesy of LB Jesse Luketa, who was good for nine tackles.

Like the Nittany Lions, the Scarlet Knights didn't have any clear offensive standouts, but WR Bo Melton led the way with one touchdown.

Penn State's win brought them up to 2-5. RU's overall record fell to an identical 2-5.

Penn State will take on the Michigan State Spartans at noon ET next week at Beaver Stadium. Unlike Penn State, MSU will be limping in after taking a loss. As for the Scarlet Knights, they will face off against the Maryland Terrapins at noon ET next week at Capital One Field at Maryland Stadium. Like RU, Maryland is looking to wash their mouths of the taste of defeat after falling 27-11 to the Indiana Hoosiers.
