Rutgers vs. Michigan State updates: Live NCAA Football game scores, results for Saturday

Michigan State is 7-1 against Rutgers since October of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The Michigan State Spartans will head out on the road to face off against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights at 12:00 p.m. ET at SHI Stadium. Michigan State might want some stickum for this game since the team gave up four turnovers two Saturdays ago.

Michigan State's recent rough patch got a bit rougher after their third straight loss. They took a 26-16 hit to the loss column at the hands of Iowa. Despite 127 more yards than Iowa, Michigan State couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.

Most of the squad's points came courtesy of special teams, who contributed ten in total. All those points came courtesy of Jonathan Kim: he added nine points with three field goals, and another on an extra-point kick. His longest was a 58-yard strike in the second quarter.

Meanwhile, Rutgers came up short against Wisconsin on Saturday and fell 24-13. Rutgers has struggled against Wisconsin recently, as Saturday's contest was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

The losses dropped Michigan State to 2-3 and Rutgers to 4-2.

While both teams both let their fans down in their last outings, both still covered. Looking ahead, Rutgers is the favorite in this one, as the experts expect to see them win by five points. For those looking to play the spread, keep Rutgers in mind: they have a solid 4-1 record against the spread this season.

Michigan State didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Rutgers when the teams last played last November, but they still walked away with a 27-21 victory. Michigan State will need to keep their eye on Rutgers' Kyle Monangai, who just rushed for 162 yards the last time they played. Will he have another big game against Michigan State, or will the team keep him contained? Check CBSSports.com after the match to find out.
