Porzingis (calf) will likely remain sidelined for the Celtics' second-round series in the Eastern Conference playoffs, Chris Haynes of Turner Sports reports. Porzingis sustained a calf injury in Game 4 of Boston's first-round series and was unavailable for Wednesday's Game 5 as the Celtics took down the Heat to advance to the second round. He's been diagnosed with a right soleus strain and was expected to miss several games, and it appears likely that his absence will span the entirety of the second round. However, the Celtics hope that Porzingis will be able to return if the team advances to the Eastern Conference Finals, and the 28-year-old will rest and rehab in the coming days.... See More ... Celtics' Kristaps Porzingis: Likely out multiple games
Porzingis (calf) is expected to miss a minimum of several games, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports. Porzingis has already been ruled out for Game 5 against Miami on Wednesday due to a right soleus strain, but it now appears that he will be headed toward an extended absence. It seems unlikely that Porzingis will return to action for the remainder of Boston's first-round series and could be kept out longer if the team continues to advance in the playoffs. With the 28-year-old big man sidelined, Al Horford should slide into the starting lineup, with Luke Kornet and Xavier Tillman competing for bench minutes.... See More ... See Less -
Celtics' Kristaps Porzingis: Won't play Game 5
Porzingis (calf) has been ruled out for Wednesday's Game 5 against the Heat, Justin Turpin of WEEI.com reports. Porzingis has been diagnosed with a right soleus strain, the same injury that's kept Giannis Antetokounmpo out since April 9. With Boston holding a 3-1 lead, Al Horford will likely slide into the starting lineup in Porzingis' absence for at least the remainder of the opening-round series.... See More ... See Less -
Celtics' Kristaps Porzingis: Unlikely to return
Porzingis is considered doubtful to return to Monday's Game 4 against the Heat due to right calf tightness, NBC Sports Boston reports. The severity of Porzingis' injury isn't yet known, but his night is likely over. Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN has already reported that Porzingis will undergo an MRI on Tuesday, and the initial indication is that he managed to avoid an Achilles injury. Boston should have more information on the big man's status over the next day or so before the Celtics host the Heat for Game 5 on Wednesday.... See More ... See Less -
Celtics' Kristaps Porzingis: Limps to locker room
Porzingis walked to the locker room during the first half of Monday's Game 4 against the Heat with an apparent lower body injury, Souichi Terada of The Springfield Republican reports. Porzingis came up limping with a few minutes remaining in the second quarter, and he immediately called to the bench for a sub and walked gingerly to the locker room to be evaluated further. Al Horford and Luke Kornet would be in line for larger workloads in the frontcourt if Porzingis is unable to return.... See More ... See Less -
Celtics' Kristaps Porzingis: Stuffs stat line Saturday
Porzingis logged 18 points (5-9 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 5-6 FT), five rebounds, two assists, two blocks and one steal in 27 minutes during Saturday's 104-84 victory over the Heat in Game 3 of the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs. Porzingis was active on both ends of the court, and even though he cooled down after a strong start in which he scored Boston's first eight points, he still finished with a solid output despite playing just 27 minutes. The limit in playing time was probably related to the nature of the game since it was a blowout from the second quarter onwards, meaning Porzingis shouldn't have problems handling his regular workload in Game 4 on Monday. Porzingis has scored 18 points in two of his three appearances in the series.... See More ... See Less -
Celtics' Kristaps Porzingis: Strong from deep to boost offense
Porzingis amassed 18 points (7-13 FG, 4-8 3Pt), four rebounds, one assist, two blocks and one steal in 34 minutes during Sunday's 114-94 victory over the Heat in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals. Porzingis ended two points shy of the 20-point mark but was a key contributor as the Celtics ran away with Game 1. The big man drilled four three-pointers and was a plus-17 in his 34 minutes of action. Porzingis and the Celtics will have two days off before Wednesday's Game 2.... See More ... See Less -
Celtics' Kristaps Porzingis: Sitting out again Sunday
Porzingis will be rested for Sunday's game against the Wizards. No surprise here, as the Celtics are just trying to keep their key players fresh for the playoffs. Derrick White, Jrue Holiday, Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum and Al Horford will also be held out.... See More ... See Less -
Celtics' Kristaps Porzingis: Ruled out for Friday
Porzingis (hamstring) has been ruled out for Friday's game against Charlotte, Justin Turpin of WEEI.com reports. The Celtics are exercising caution in the second half of a back-to-back set, and Porzingis will have a chance to rest with the postseason looming. His final chance to return during the regular season will be Sunday against Washington, while Xavier Tillman, Luke Kornet and Neemias Queta could see increased run against Charlotte since Porzingis and Al Horford (toe) have both been ruled out.... Celtics' Kristaps Porzingis: Iffy for Friday
Porzingis is questionable for Friday's game against the Hornets due to right hamstring injury management, Taylor Snow of the Celtics' official site reports. Porzingis, Jayson Tatum (knee), Jaylen Brown (hand), Jrue Holiday (knee), Derrick White (ankle) and Al Horford (toe) are all questionable. Even if all of Boston's regulars suit up, they may not play usual minutes. Porzingis has appeared in 11 of the last 13 games, averaging 18.6 points, 7.7 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 2.5 blocks and 1.2 steals in 28.9 minutes per game.... See More ... See Less -
Celtics' Kristaps Porzingis: Comes close to double-double
Porzingis ended Thursday's 118-109 loss to the Knicks with 14 points (5-12 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 2-2 FT), eight rebounds, one assist and two blocks across 25 minutes. Porzingis returned from a one-game absence, and while he only played 25 minutes, he still ended just two rebounds away from a double-double. Given his injury history and how cautious the Celtics have been with him all season, it remains to be seen how available Porzingis will be for the final two games of the regular season, as the Celtics have already locked up home-court advantage throughout the playoffs.... Celtics' Kristaps Porzingis: Iffy for Thursday
Porzingis (hamstring) is questionable for Thursday's game against the Knicks. Porzingis, who missed Tuesday's loss to Milwaukee, is one of six Celtics listed as questionable, so it's unclear what Boston's rotation will look like Thursday. With the No. 1 seed locked up, Boston continues to rest its regulars occasionally, but Porzingis has appeared in 10 of the Celtics' last 12 games, averaging 19.1 points, 7.7 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 2.5 blocks and 1.3 steals in 29.3 minutes during that stretch.... Celtics' Kristaps Porzingis: Will rest Tuesday
Porzingis (hamstring/rest) will be inactive Tuesday versus Milwaukee, Keith Smith of Spotrac.com reports. Porzingis and Al Horford (toe) have both been ruled out for Tuesday's contest, leaving a platoon of Luke Kornet and Xavier Tillman to handle minutes at center. Neemias Queta signed a standard multi-year contract with Boston on Monday, but he is currently at the G League level. Porzingis' next opportunity to take the court comes Thursday versus New York.... Celtics' Kristaps Porzingis: May rest Tuesday
Porzingis is questionable for Tuesday's game in Milwaukee due to right hamstring injury management, Justin Turpin of WEEI.com reports. Porzingis and Al Horford (toe) are both questionable, but the rest of Boston's roster will be available Tuesday. If both big men are downgraded to out, Xavier Tillman, Luke Kornet and Oshae Brissett would be candidates for increased roles.... See More ... See Less -
Celtics' Kristaps Porzingis: Double-double in rout of OKC
Porzingis racked up 27 points (11-14 FG, 3-3 3Pt, 2-2 FT), 12 rebounds, four assists, five blocks and one steal in 31 minutes during Wednesday's 135-100 victory over the Thunder. Aside from recording a double-double for the second time across his last three outings, it's worth noting that Porzingis finished just one block shy of tying his season-high mark in that category. Porzingis has also been on a tear offensively, as he's cleared the 15-point mark in 13 straight appearances, a run that dates back to Feb. 24. He's averaged 21.2 points, 7.6 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.0 blocks per game in that span.... See More ... See Less -
Celtics' Kristaps Porzingis: Will play Monday
Porzinigs (hamstring) is available for Monday's game against the Hornets, Taylor Snow of the Celtics' official site reports. Porzingis will shake off a questionable tag and suit up for a fourth straight game. Over his last six appearances, the talented big man has averaged 18.7 points, 6.2 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 2.2 blocks and 1.2 steals in 30.2 minutes per game.... See More ... See Less -
Celtics' Kristaps Porzingis: Iffy for Monday
Porzingis is questionable for Monday's game against Charlotte due to right hamstring injury management, Taylor Snow of the Celtics' official site reports. With the Celtics cruising, Porzingis continues to take it easy to stay fresh for a playoff run. If he's sidelined again Monday, Al Horford would likely start at center.... See More ... See Less -
Celtics' Kristaps Porzingis: Notches double-double vs. Pelicans
Porzingis closed with 19 points (6-14 FG, 1-6 3Pt, 6-6 FT), 10 rebounds, three assists, four blocks and two steals across 31 minutes during Saturday's 104-92 win over New Orleans. Although Porzingis missed five of his six three-point attempts Saturday, he provided a reliable scoring presence inside the arc, as the Celtics consistently set the big man up against smaller defenders. He's now registered three or more blocks in each of his last three games and ranks ninth in the NBA by averaging 1.9 blocks per game this season. Porzingis finishes March averaging 20.4 points on 45.3 percent shooting, 7.1 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 2.0 blocks and 1.1 steals over 30.9 minutes per game.... See More ... See Less -
Celtics' Kristaps Porzingis: Stuffs stat sheet in loss to Hawks
Porzingis notched 20 points (8-20 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 2-3 FT), seven rebounds, two assists, three blocks and one steal in 41 minutes during Thursday's 123-122 overtime loss to the Hawks. Porzingis didn't have his best shooting performance and needed 20 shots to score 20 points, but he still found a way to salvage his fantasy stat line due to his contributions in peripheral categories, particularly as a rebounder and defensive anchor down low. Porzingis has reached the 20-point mark in seven of his 12 appearances since the All-Star break, and while he holds a semi-secondary role on offense behind Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, he remains extremely valuable in fantasy due to his two-way ability and stat-filling capacity.... Celtics' Kristaps Porzingis: Ready for Monday
Porzingis (hamstring) isn't on the injury report ahead of Monday's game against the Hawks. Porzingis sat down Saturday as a precaution, but he'll be a full go for Monday's clash. The big man has had a solid month of March, averaging 21.3 points, 7.0 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.2 steals and 1.3 blocks in six games.... See More ... See Less
