Guardians' Steven Kwan: Facing four-week absence
The Guardians expect Kwan to miss approximately four weeks after placing him on the 10-day injured list earlier Monday with an acute left hamstring strain, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.
Kwan was diagnosed with the acute hamstring strain after undergoing an MRI following his early exit from Saturday's 7-1 win over the Angels. With imaging determining that he sustained more than a mild injury, Kwan will be sidelined well beyond the minimum 10 days, and a more precise return date likely won't come into focus until he reaches the point in his rehab where he's performing baseball activities. The Guardians are likely to turn to Estevan Florial, Ramon Laureano and Gabriel Arias to fill in for Kwan in the corner outfield, while prospect Kyle Manzardo was promoted from Triple-A Columbus on Monday and should take on an everyday role at designated hitter for at least the next few weeks.

Guardians' Steven Kwan: Heads to 10-day IL
The Guardians placed Kwan on the 10-day injured list Monday with a left hamstring strain.
Cleveland hasn't disclosed the grade of Kwan's hamstring strain, which he suffered in Saturday's 7-1 win over the Angels. The injury forced him to miss his second game of the season Sunday, and he'll be sidelined through at least May 14 as a result of landing on the IL. The Guardians called up prospect Kyle Manzardo from Triple-A Columbus to take over Kwan's spot on the 26-man active roster, and Manzardo should also inherit an everyday role while the 26-year-old outfielder is on the shelf. Manzardo will serve as the Guardians' designated hitter in Monday's series opener versus the Tigers and will hit seventh, while Estevan Florial will fill in for Kwan in left field and atop the batting order.

The 26-year-old left Saturday's 7-1 win over the Angels due to left hamstring tightness and will now be sidelined for at least the next week and a half. The results of Kwan's MRI aren't yet known, so it's unclear if he'll be ready to return from the IL when first eligible. The Guardians plan to call up top prospect Kyle Manzardo from Triple-A Columbus in a corresponding move, and Manzardo should be headed for an everyday role in Kwan's absence.

Kwan is out of the lineup for just the second time all season, with his absence coming as no surprise after he was removed from Saturday's 7-1 win left hamstring tightness. The 26-year-old is slated to undergo an MRI on Sunday, but the Guardians have yet to provide an update on the findings from those tests. Kwan tweaked the hamstring during Saturday's 7-1 win over the Angels while making a play in the outfield. More should be known about whether Kwan will require a stint on the injured list following the exam. Kwan is off to an excellent start this season, slashing .353/.407/.496 over 32 games.

Guardians' Steven Kwan: Three hits in extra-inning win
Kwan went 3-for-5 with a triple, a double and two RBI in Wednesday's 3-2 extra-inning win over the Astros.
Kwan's RBI triple in the fifth inning gave the Guardians a 2-0 lead, and he plated the decisive run with a double in the 10th. He ended up a home run short of the cycle in Wednesday's strong performance. The leadoff hitter has gone 11-for-28 (.393) during his seven-game hitting streak, and he's slashing an excellent .360/.403/.512 with three homers, 11 RBI, 27 runs scored, three stolen bases, six doubles and two triples over 29 contests this season.

Guardians' Steven Kwan: Swipes home in win
Kwan went 2-for-5 with two runs and a stolen base Saturday in an extra-inning victory versus Atlanta.
Kwan's speed was on display throughout the contest, as neither of his base knocks left the infield and he crossed the plate on a steal of home in the eighth inning. The third-year outfielder had had an impressive beginning to the campaign, notching at least one hit in 17 of his 26 contests. He's slashing .345/.378/.469 with three homers, eight RBI, 25 runs and three thefts through 119 plate appearances.

Guardians' Steven Kwan: Pops third homer
Kwan went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 6-2 loss to Atlanta.
He led off the game by ripping a Chris Sale sinker down the right-field line, but not much else went right for the Guardians on the night. Kwan managed only 11 homers total in his first two big-league seasons, but the 26-year-old already has three in 25 games to begin 2024. He's still making plenty of contact, too, sitting third in the AL in batting average at .343, just behind Jose Altuve (.346) and Salvador Perez (.344).

Guardians' Steven Kwan: Tallies four hits, steals base
Kwan went 4-for-5 with two doubles, two runs scored and a stolen base in Saturday's 6-3 win over the Athletics.
It's already Kwan's 10th multi-hit game of the season but his first one with four base knocks. He hasn't done a ton of running yet for a guy who has gotten on base at a .394 clip, but Kwan picked up his second steal in this one and first since March 29. The 26-year-old also already has a couple home runs after hitting only five in 718 plate appearances last season.

Kwan is batting .400 (14-for-35) during his active eight-game hitting streak. He continues to put the ball in play with great success, batting .372 over 17 contests this season. He's added two home runs, five RBI, 18 runs scored and a stolen base. Kwan can still chip in a bit more with speed, but he's doing everything else right from atop the Guardians' order.
