  • Orioles' Jordan Westburg: Absence continuing Friday

Westburg (hand) is out of the lineup for Friday's game against Rays, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

The 24-year-old will miss a second straight game after being hit by a pitch on the right hand Tuesday against the Red Sox. Westburg had X-rays come back negative and should be considered day-to-day. Ramon Urias is starting at the hot corner Friday for Baltimore.

  • Orioles' Jordan Westburg: X-rays clean, but not in lineup

Westburg is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Red Sox due to a sore right hand, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Westburg was hit in the hand by a pitch in Tuesday's 8-3 loss. Orioles manager Brandon Hyde said that X-rays on Westburg's hand came back negative, but the 25-year-old infielder will benefit from two full days of rest with Baltimore off Thursday. Ramon Urias will handle third base Wednesday in Westburg's stead.

  • Orioles' Jordan Westburg: Three hits including homer

Westburg went 3-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 5-3 win over the White Sox.

The O's did all their scoring in the eighth inning, and Westburg slugged the last of three Baltimore homers in the frame when he took Michael Kopech deep. It was the 25-year-old infielder's first multi-hit performance since May 15, snapping a 4-for-29 (.138) swoon. Despite the mini-slump, Westburg sports a .285/.342/.508 slash line on the season with eight homers, five steals, 26 runs and 31 RBI in 48 contests.

  • Orioles' Jordan Westburg: Blasts leadoff homer

Westburg went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and an additional run scored in Wednesday's 3-2 win over the Blue Jays.

Westburg made manager Brandon Hyde look smart -- this was Westburg's first big-league game at leadoff, and he hit a homer in his first at-bat. The infielder is 11-for-32 (.344) over his last eight games, adding six extra-base hits and seven RBI in that span. For the season, he's slashing .301/.354/.534 with seven homers, 28 RBI, 22 runs scored and five stolen bases through 159 plate appearances. Westburg may get more looks at leadoff versus southpaws, but he should be expected to bat lower in the lineup versus right-handers, as he has yet to above sixth in the order against same-handed pitchers this season.
