Marte is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cardinals, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
Marte had started each of the Mets' first seven games of May, going 6-for-30 (.200 average) with one extra-base hit (a double) and one stolen base. His absence Wednesday looks to be little more than a maintenance day as the Mets and Cardinals wrap up their series with a day game after a night game.

Mets' Starling Marte: Two hits, stolen base in loss
Marte went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a stolen base in Saturday's loss to the Rays.
Marte drove in the Mets' only run of the game with an RBI single following a leadoff double from Brandon Nimmo in the top of the first inning. The right fielder added another single and a walk in the contest while also swiping his seventh bag of the season. Marte has struggled a bit at the plate as of late and is batting just .188 (3-for-16) in May. However, he's also tallied multiple hits in five of his last 11 games.

Mets' Starling Marte: Back from bereavement list
The Mets activated Marte (personal) from the bereavement list Tuesday, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.
He's not in the lineup for Tuesday's game versus the Cubs, but he'll be available off the bench after missing the previous three games. DJ Stewart is set to start in right field Tuesday.

Mets' Starling Marte: Expected back Tuesday
Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said Monday that he expects Marte (personal) to be activated from the bereavement list Tuesday, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.
Marte missed the final two games of the Mets' weekend series against the Cardinals and remains unavailable Monday versus the Cubs, but his return to the team looks to be imminent. Tyrone Taylor will draw a third straight start in the outfield Monday but will move back to a bench role once Marte is activated.

Marte was placed on the bereavement list Saturday, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports.
Manager Carlos Mendoza said he expects Marte to be away from the team for three days as he tends to more important matters. Mark Vientos will come up from Triple-A Syracuse to take Marte's spot on the active roster.

Marte went 2-for-4 with a stolen base in Monday's loss to the Giants.
The veteran outfielder continues to turn things around after a rough 2023. Marte has six multi-hit performances in the last 11 games, going 15-for-48 (.313) over that stretch to boost his slash line on the season to .286/.330/.451 with four homers, six steals, 12 RBI and 16 runs through 22 contests. The 35-year-old hasn't had a 20-homer campaign since 2019, his final year with the Pirates, but if he can stay healthy he's well on his way to reaching that mark again.
