  • Yankees' Marcus Stroman: Settles for no-decision

Stroman yielded a run on three hits and a walk over 7.1 innings in a no-decision Monday. He struck out six during the win over Seattle.

Stroman cruised through seven shutout frames before coughing up a solo homer to Dominic Canzone in the eighth inning. Stroman was in line for his fourth win before the Yankees blew the lead in the ninth. He's produced a 2.22 ERA over his last four starts, dropping his season ERA to 3.05 through 56 innings. He's turned in two straight quality starts after failing to finish at least six frames in his previous six appearances. Stroman is in line to start in San Diego this weekend.

Holmes (1-1) allowed four runs on four hits and two walks while taking a loss against the Mariners on Monday. He blew a save chance and recorded only two outs.

Holmes entered Monday with zero earned runs allowed through 20 innings this season. Seattle chipped away at him with singles and walks to plate four runs and take the lead in the ninth inning. • Yankees' DJ LeMahieu: Will be primary third baseman

Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Monday that LeMahieu (foot) will be the team's primary third baseman when he returns, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.

LeMahieu will be eased into everyday duty, though, after missing so much time with a right foot injury. The veteran infielder is a couple games into the resumption of his rehab assignment and isn't expected to be activated for at least another week or so. Once LeMahieu returns, Oswaldo Cabrera and Jon Berti will fill utility roles.

  • Yankees' Gerrit Cole: Facing hitters Tuesday

Cole (elbow) will face hitters Tuesday, Meredith Marakovits of YES Network reports.

Cole has been throwing off a mound for a couple weeks and is now ready to face hitters for the first time since he was diagnosed with nerve irritation and edema in his right elbow back in mid-March. A rehab assignment shouldn't be too far down the road, although there's been no date revealed for that yet. Cole is still several weeks away from his season debut.

  • Yankees' DJ LeMahieu: Reaches four times in rehab game

LeMahieu (foot) went 1-for-1 with three walks, two runs and an RBI while playing five innings at third base in Sunday's rehab appearance with Double-A Somerset.

LeMahieu had plenty of opportunities to put his right foot -- which he broke on a foul ball March 16 -- to the test Sunday given his time in the field and on the basepaths. The veteran infielder is three games into his rehab assignment and has gone 2-for-7 with three walks, two runs and an RBI thus far. Per the Associated Press, LeMahieu is slated to play back-to-back minor-league games Tuesday and Wednesday this week before playing in three consecutive contests over the weekend. He could be activated from the injured list soon thereafter.

  • Yankees' Aaron Judge: Continues power surge Sunday

Judge went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Sunday's 7-2 win against the White Sox.

Judge capped the scoring in the contest with one of the shortest homers of his career -- a 339-foot poke to the short porch in right field. Regardless of the distance, it was another addition to his recent collection of his homers, as he's now gone deep seven times over his past 13 games. The impressive run has elevated Judge into a tie for third place in the majors with 13 home runs on the campaign.

  • Yankees' Colby White: Removed from 40-man roster

White was designated for assignment by the Yankees on Monday.

  • Yankees' Clayton Andrews: Back in big leagues

The Yankees selected Andrews' contract from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Monday.

Andrews was scrubbed from the Yankees' 40-man roster last month but has worked his way back onto it and is back in the majors after holding a 3.97 ERA and 16:6 K:BB over his last 11.1 innings with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. He'll operate in low-leverage spots.

  • Yankees' Ian Hamilton: Goes on COVID-19 IL

The Yankees placed Hamilton on the 7-day COVID-19 injured list Monday, retroactive to May 19.

Hamilton should be away for about a week while recovering from the illness. He's been one of the Yankees' better relievers since the beginning of last season but has struggled in May with a 3.68 ERA and 2.05 WHIP over eight appearances.

  • Yankees' Jon Berti: Blasts first homer

Berti went 2-for-3 with a three-run home run Sunday against the White Sox.

Berti's first homer of the season came off White Sox starter Chris Flexen with two outs and two men on in the fourth. It was the first extra-base hit of the season for Berti, who is now hitting .277 after entering the contest batting .250 through 44 at-bats.

  • Yankees' Carlos Rodon: Earns win against former team

Rodon (5-2) earned the win Sunday against the White Sox, allowing two runs on four hits and two walks over six innings. He struck out six.

Rodon allowed a homer and a triple in the second inning, leading to two runs, but didn't allow another runner to cross the plate through six quality frames against his former club. According to Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News, Yankees manager Aaron Boone confessed after the game that Rodon was battling a cold all week, and the skipper considered pulling him after five but was impressed with the way he battled back after the shaky second frame. It was the third consecutive quality start and win for Rodon, who will carry a 3.27 ERA into his next start, tentatively slated to take place in San Diego when the Yankees travel to take on the Padres during a three-game weekend set.

  • Yankees' Oswald Peraza: Reinstated, optioned to Triple-A

Peraza (shoulder) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list and optioned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Sunday.

Peraza has been on the injured list since suffering a shoulder injury in February, but he began a rehab assignment May 7. Most recently, he went 0-for-4 with a strikeout in his only contest with Triple-A, where he will now remain for the time being. The organization will likely allow the 23-year-old to find his footing with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre before ultimately elevating him to the major-league roster down the road.

  • Yankees' Tommy Kahnle: Likely to be activated Wednesday

Manager Aaron Boone said Sunday that Kahnle (shoulder) will likely be activated from the 15-day injured list Wednesday, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.

After a rehab appearance Saturday, it appears Kahnle is moving in the right direction and could make his season debut this week. The 34-year-old finished out the 2023 season with a 2.66 ERA, along with a 48:19 K:BB and two saves across 40.2 innings.

  • Yankees' Jose Trevino: Swats fifth homer

Trevino went 1-for-4 with a solo home run against the White Sox in Saturday's 6-1 victory.

Trevino hit one of four homers for New York in the contest, belting a solo shot to left field in the second inning. The backstop is up to five long balls through 91 plate appearances this season, already surpassing the four homers he hit in 158 plate appearances last year. Trevino and Austin Wells continue to split work behind the plate for the Yankees, but Trevino has been far superior offensively so far this season, slashing .286/.330/.464 to Wells' .197/.308/.303 mark.
