    Analysis

    Goal scoring remains a major problem for Calgary as it has scored the fewest goals in the league (31, along with the Rangers and Caps). The power play, at 13.5%, rates as one of the NHL's worst (ranks 27th out of 30), so it is taking near perfect efforts in goal from Dustin Wolf, but he's been far from up to it, with a 3.39 GAA and .885 saves. Not good enough in this situation. Calgary is also home after a long Eastern swing, often a tough scheduling spot. Meanwhile, the Jackets continue to surprise, recently on a 4-game win streak before a tough 3-2 loss at the Islanders on Sunday. Play Jackets on the Money Line.

    Analysis

    Another speculative play. The Kings are the Bulls West, at least old Bulls West teams with Zach LaVine and DeMar DeRozan on the roster, and I giggle that Kings management thought that things would be different out there. LaVine and Domantas Sabonis are iffy tonight. LaVine seemingly is always on the report so I tend to think he plays. Sabonis I'm not sure but we know that Steph Curry and Al Horford are out in the second of a B2B and it seems like Jimmy Butler will be as well after leaving Tuesday's game with back troubles. The Dubs are 1-3 away and have a bigger game up next in Denver. The Kings have played at home only twice and not since Oct. 26.

    Analysis

    We've seen hints of a Boston breakthrough when extending a couple of margins this season, and this would seem a perfect opportunity to do so again. Though the Celtics have been a bit streaky, they did recently put three wins together, and Jaylen Brown (26.8 ppg) continues to torment enemy defenses. The absence of Jayson Tatum is going to be felt all season, but the Celtics have found some serviceable replacements including Anfernee Simons vs. Portland, not quite Tatum-like but producing at a 14 ppg clip. Still, who are we kidding, the attraction here is to go against the sad-sack Wizards, on a five-game skid and having lost four of those games by 17 points or more. Play Celtics.

    Analysis

    The Caps are slumping, but I think they are all caught up in Alex Ovechkin scoring goal No. 900 -- which I believe he does Wednesday against a porous Blues defense. STL has one victory in its past eight overall and hasn't won away since Oct. 13. Washington got back top-line center Dylan Strome from injury on Saturday and showed some offensive fight in an OT loss. Blueliner Rasmus Sandin is set to return for this one after missing five contests with an upper-body injury. Should be Logan Thompson's turn in net, and he has an NHL-best 1.51 GAA and .935 SV. Counterpart Jordan Binnington has a 3.51 GAA on the road. Thrilled if the Blues decide on Joel Hofer instead but doubt it.

    Analysis

    MACtion is here! Kent State is better this year for sure and interim coach Mark Carney was recently given the full-time gig. But I'm not sure the Flashes are ready to win on the road. They are 0-4 away this year and have lost each by at least 35. Granted, three were at Texas Tech, Florida State and Oklahoma ... but also at Toledo. Ball State is 3-0 at home, including an upset of MAC contender Ohio. BSU's Nathan Voorhis is second in the nation with 10 sacks. Kent State, meanwhile, has the MAC's worst scoring defense (36.5 PPG).
