The Los Angeles Sparks have begun the 2022 WNBA season with a pair of victories on their four-game road trip, defeating the defending champion Chicago Sky in overtime before posting a 10-point victory over the Indiana Fever on Sunday. The Sparks attempt to remain perfect when they visit the Atlanta Dream on Wednesday. Atlanta kicked off its campaign with a seven-point road triumph against the Dallas Wings.

Wednesday's three-game slate also includes the New York Liberty visiting Chicago and the Phoenix Mercury hosting the Seattle Storm. Before making any WNBA picks or parlays, you need to see what women's basketball experts Calvin Wetzel and Aaron Barzilai are saying.

Barzilai is a Ph.D. from Stanford who served as Director of Basketball Analytics for the Philadelphia 76ers. Five years ago, he founded HerHoopStats.com – a groundbreaking website that unlocks insights about the women's game. Wetzel, the site's lead betting writer, incorporates his mathematical background and strong knowledge of women's hoops to turn the site's prediction model into picks.

Now, Barzilai and Wetzel have turned their attention to the WNBA after going 590-430 overall (+127.40 units, +13.6 percent) during the 2021-22 women's college basketball season. Anyone who has followed them has seen huge returns.

Barzilai and Wetzel have scoured the schedule to find the value and come up with their best bets for Wednesday's games. Parlaying these three WNBA picks would pay well over 5-1. You can only see their expert WNBA picks at SportsLine.

Top WNBA picks for Wednesday

One of Barzilai and Wetzel's picks for their parlay is the Liberty to cover as five-point underdogs against the Sky. New York opened its 2022 season with an 81-79 triumph over the Connecticut Sun at home on Saturday. The Liberty accomplished the feat without forward Betnijah Laney, the team's leading scorer in 2021 who was kept out of the lineup as a precaution after undergoing offseason knee surgery.

The 28-year-old Laney, who averaged 16.8 points last year, could make her season debut on Wednesday. In her absence against the Sun, guard Sabrina Ionescu led New York with 25 points on 10-of-18 shooting - including 3-of-6 from beyond the arc. The 24-year-old Ionescu, who produced 11.7 points per game last season, added a team-high six assists while forward Natasha Howard scored 16 points and grabbed six rebounds. Howard missed half of the 2021 campaign with a knee injury but finished just behind Laney with an average of 16.2 points in 13 contests.
