With the Oilers managing a tight cap situation, it was necessary for the 26-year-old to be sent down ahead of the final two games of the regular season. Assuming he isn't recalled prior to Wednesday's contest versus the Sharks, he will finish his NHL regular season with two points, both assists, in 15 games.
