  • Canadiens' Jakub Dobes: Win streak ends in OT loss

Dobes halted 20 of 24 shots on net in Monday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Wild. Although the Canadiens scored three consecutive goals in the middle of the contest, Dobes allowed two goals in the first period before giving up the equalizer midway through the third. After holding up through the first three and a half minutes of overtime, he ultimately surrendered the game-winning tally to Minnesota's Kirill Kaprizov. With the OT loss, Dobes now has an 18-5-4 record, a 2.96 GAA and an .892 save percentage across 27 outings this season. Even though the 24-year-old netminder snapped his six-game win streak Monday, he has earned the Canadiens a point in each of his last 10 starts. As he's started each of Montreal's last four games, Dobes looks to have a firm hold on the No. 1 job in the team's crease, making him a viable fantasy option in most standard leagues for the time being.

  • Canadiens' Jakub Dobes: Starting in Minnesota

Dobes will guard the road goal against the Wild on Monday. Dobes has stopped 151 of the 169 shots he has faced during his six-game winning streak. He has gone 18-5-3 in the 2025-26 campaign with a 2.92 GAA and an .894 save percentage through 26 appearances. Minnesota ranks 12th in the league with 3.25 goals per game.

  • Canadiens' Jakub Dobes: Extends winning run

Dobes stopped 36 of 38 shots in Saturday's 4-2 win over the Sabres. Dobes has started each of the Canadiens' last three games and has performed at a high level, posting a save percentage of at least .940 in two of those contests. In six starts since the beginning of January, Dobes has posted a 2.97 GAA with an .893 save percentage.

  • Canadiens' Jakub Dobes: Tending twine Saturday

Dobes will be between the road pipes in Buffalo on Saturday, per Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports. Dobes has won his last five games after turning aside 26 shots in a 7-3 victory over Colorado on Thursday. The 24-year-old netminder is 17-5-3 with a 2.96 GAA and an .890 save percentage across 25 appearances this season. The Sabres have been firing on all cylinders lately and sit sixth in the league with 3.40 goals per game.

  • Canadiens' Jakub Dobes: Set to start versus Avs

Dobes is slated to guard the cage at home against the Avalanche on Thursday, Stu Cowan of The Montreal Gazette reports. Dobes will make consecutive starts for the first time since early December, despite having gone 6-0-1 in his last seven outings. At this point, the starting gig in Montreal seems to be up for grabs. As such, a couple more strong starts from Dobes could see him unseat Sam Montembeault as the Habs' No. 1 option.

  • Canadiens' Jakub Dobes: Defending home ice Tuesday

Dobes will start in net at home against the Wild on Tuesday. Tuesday's contest will give Dobes the chance to extend his win streak to three games despite allowing eight combined goals in his previous two outings. Overall, the 24-year-old netminder has a 14-5-3 record with a 3.01 GAA and an .880 save percentage over 22 appearances this season. With Jacob Fowler recently sent down to the AHL, Dobes will likely have to impress in Tuesday's contest if he wants to fend off the 21-year-old rookie for a full-time role in the NHL. Entering Tuesday's contest, Minnesota ranks 15th across the league with 3.16 goals per game, meaning Dobes will have his work cut out for him.

  • Canadiens' Jakub Dobes: Carried to win Monday

Dobes made 20 saves in Monday's 6-3 win over the Canucks. The game was tied 3-3 through two periods, but Montreal dominated the final 20 minutes to hand Dobes the win. The 24-year-old has made only five starts over the last month as part of the Habs' three-man committee between the pipes, but he's gotten the job done when called upon, going 4-0-1 with a 2.56 GAA and an .893 save percentage.

  • Canadiens' Jakub Dobes: Earns win despite subpar outing

Dobes stopped 20 of 25 shots in Thursday's 7-5 win over the Hurricanes. Dobes was coming off three straight games in which he had posted a save percentage above .900, but that wasn't the case here. Fortunately for him, the 24-year-old still managed to get the win after receiving enough support from the offense in one of the highest-scoring games of the season. Dobes has won three of his last four starts, going 3-0-1 with a 2.45 GAA and an .899 save percentage over that stretch.

  • Canadiens' Jakub Dobes: Between the pipes Thursday

Dobes will protect the visiting cage in Carolina on Thursday, Eric Engels of Sportsnet reports. Dobes will make his first start in four games. He is 12-5-3 with a 2.90 GAA and an .894 save percentage across 20 appearances this season. The Hurricanes are generating 3.23 goals per game, ninth in the NHL.

  • Canadiens' Jakub Dobes: Takes shootout loss

Dobes stopped 28 of 31 shots in Sunday's 4-3 shootout loss to the Penguins. Dobes allowed multiple goals for the first time in his last three games. The 24-year-old has carved out a fairly even split of playing time with Jacob Fowler lately, and getting positive results should help Dobes avoid being relegated to the backup role. He's now at a 12-5-3 record with a 2.90 GAA and an .894 save percentage over 20 appearances this season. The Canadiens' road trip continues in Boston on Tuesday, which projects as a start for Fowler if the team continues to alternate goalies.

  • Canadiens' Jakub Dobes: Tending twine in Pittsburgh

Dobes will defend the road crease against Pittsburgh on Sunday, Penguins play-by-play announcer Josh Getzoff reports. Dobes will draw his third start in the Canadiens' last seven games in the second half of a back-to-back set Sunday. He has won his last two starts, posting a 1.00 GAA and .953 save percentage during that time.

  • Canadiens' Jakub Dobes: Pulled after three-goal first frame

Dobes allowed three goals on 14 shots Tuesday before he was replaced after the first period. The game finished 6-1in favor of Tampa Bay, and he took the loss. It was the third star of October's fourth start in a row (2-2-0). Sam Montembeault allowed three goals on 12 shots in relief. Dobes has come down from that hot start to the season, and the Canadiens have slipped out of a wild-card spot. How much has he struggled? Dobes was 6-0-0 to start the season, and he made 159 saves, giving up just 12 goals (.930 save percentage). Heading into Tuesday night, he was 4-4-1 with an .865 save percentage with 31 goals allowed (230 shots). However, Montenbeault has been worse (5-6-1 with a 3.61 GAA and an .861 save percentage heading into Tuesday). You need to park both men for now. Yikes.

  • Canadiens' Jakub Dobes: Fourth win in last five starts

Dobes made 22 saves in a 2-1 shootout win over the Maple Leafs on Saturday. Scott Laughton beat him with a slapper on a shorthanded breakaway at 10:28 of the third period. Dobes has two straight wins and is 4-1-0 in his last five starts. He has allowed just eight goals in the four wins, one more than the seven he coughed up against Colorado at the end of November.

  • Canadiens' Jakub Dobes: Confirmed starter for Wednesday

Dobes will tend the twine in Utah on Wednesday, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports. Dobes got back in the win column Saturday against Toronto on the heels of his four-game losing streak. His 24-save performance against the Leafs was his best showing in a month -- Dobes hadn't allowed two goals or less since Oct. 22 in Calgary prior to Saturday. As for Wednesday's opponent, the Mammoth have won back-to-back games over the Rangers and Golden Knights following a four-game skid. Logan Cooley and Dylan Guenther clicked on Utah's second line after being reunited in Monday's 5-1 win over Vegas, combining for seven points, so this could be a challenging task for Dobes and the Canadiens in the first game of their road trip out west.

  • Canadiens' Jakub Dobes: Gets hook in first regulation loss

Dobes gave up five goals on 13 shots before being replaced by Sam Montembeault to begin the third period of Thursday's 7-0 loss to the Stars. Nothing went right for Montreal in an embarrassing home loss, and while Dobes got lifted after a four-goal second period by Dallas, he was still on the hook for his first regulation loss of the campaign. It's the first time this season the 24-year-old netminder has allowed more than four goals in a start, but his last start Nov. 6 was the first time in 2025-26 he's given up more than three. Over his last four outings, Dobes has stumbled to a 4.05 GAA and .839 save percentage.

  • Canadiens' Jakub Dobes: Excellent in overtime win

Dobes stopped 36 of 37 shots in Wednesday's 2-1 overtime win over the Flames. Dobes had to deal with ample pressure from the Flames, but he held the fort well. The lone goal came off a turnover, which Adam Klapka was able to capitalize on. Dobes has won four straight games to open the year, allowing just six goals on 119 shots. While Sam Montembeault is still the Canadiens' presumptive starter, there's been no drop in play when head coach Martin St. Louis turns to Dobes. Montembeault will get the nod in the second half of the back-to-back in Edmonton on Thursday, and the Canadiens will complete the road trip with games in Vancouver on Saturday and in Seattle on Tuesday.

  • Canadiens' Jakub Dobes: Exits ice first Monday

Dobes was the first goalie to leave the ice Monday, Marc Antoine Godin of Radio Canada reports, indicating he'll be in goal at home versus the Sabres. Dobes has started the 2025-26 campaign on a two-game winning streak, during which he hasposted a 1.45 GAA and .940 save percentage. With a back-to-back against the Flames and Oilers on Wednesday and Thursday, respectively, Dobes won't have to wait long to get another opportunity between the crease. If he keeps playing at this level, Dobes could steal some extra starts away from Sam Montembeault.

  • Canadiens' Jakub Dobes: Guarding road goal

Dobes is expected to start in Thursday's road clash against Detroit, per Arpon Basu of The Athletic. Dobes is getting his first start of the season after Sam Montembeault stopped 22 of 25 shots en route to a 5-2 loss to Toronto on Wednesday. The 24-year-old Dobes had a 7-4-3 record, 2.74 GAA and .909 save percentage in 16 regular-season outings with Montreal last year. He's starting the campaign as Montreal's backup netminder, and Dobes has his work ahead of him in order to steal starts from Montembeault.

  • Canadiens' Jakub Dobes: Falls to Caps to end season

Dobes stopped 24 of 27 shots Wednesday in the Canadiens' 4-1 loss to the Capitals in Game 5 of their first-round series, with Washington's final goal getting scored into an empty net. Two of the pucks that beat Dobes came on Washington power plays, and the Habs' offense didn't even get on the board until the third period. Sam Montembeault (lower body) has solidified his spot at the top of the depth chart for Montreal, but Dobes held his own in his first taste of the NHL, going 7-4-3 during 16 regular-season outings with a 2.74 GAA and .909 save percentage. The 23-year-old Dobes should head into 2025-26 as the Canadiens' No. 2 netminder.

  • Canadiens' Jakub Dobes: In goal for Game 5

Dobes will get the starting nod on the road against Washington in Game 5 on Wednesday, Eric Engels of Sportsnet reports. Dobes gave up three goals on 24 shots (.875 save percentage) in Game 4, and he will likely need to improve those numbers if the Habs are going to avoid elimination Wednesday. The 23-year-old backstop has limited experience, having played in just 16 regular-season NHL games this year in which he went 7-4-3 with a 2.74 GAA and one shutout.
