Thompson was excellent Monday, blanking the Blues until Brandon Saad tied the game with a goal 14:53 into the third period. The 27-year-old Thompson has been stellar of late, winning his last three starts while holding opponents to a single goal in each outing. Overall, he's 20-12-5 with a .907 save percentage and 2.72 GAA. Jiri Patera figures to start Tuesday versus Nashville in the second leg of a back-to-back -- Thompson will likely be back between the pipes Thursday on the road versus Winnipeg if Adin Hill (undisclosed) remains unavailable.

Thompson is expected to start at home against Seattle on Thursday, according to Danny Webster of the Las Vegas Review-Journal. Thompson has an 18-12-5 record, 2.82 GAA and .904 save percentage in 36 outings this season. He's appeared in just two contests since Feb. 24, but with Adin Hill struggling, there might be an opportunity for Thompson to secure a bigger role going forward if he makes the most of this assignment against the Kraken. Seattle ranks 28th offensively with 2.67 goals per game, so this is a favorable matchup for Thompson.

  • Golden Knights' Logan Thompson: Back in win column

Thompson made 20 saves on 21 shots in Sunday's 3-1 win over the Devils. Nico Hischier spoiled his shutout bid 38 seconds into the third period, but otherwise Thompson stood tall in his first action since coughing up seven goals against the Sabres on Mar. 2. The win was the first since Feb. 19 for the 27-year-old netminder, and on the season Thompson is 18-12-5 with a 2.82 GAA and .904 save percentage through 36 appearances. Adin Hill has been scuffling over the last few weeks, going 2-4-0 in his last six starts with a 3.88 GAA, so Thompson could see his workload increase down the stretch as the Golden Knights look to lock up a playoff spot.

  • Golden Knights' Logan Thompson: Wheels fall off fast

Thompson made 28 saves and allowed all seven goals in a 7-2 loss to Buffalo on Saturday. The game was tight through the midpoint of the second and then the wheels fell off completely. Thompson allowed five unanswered goals as the game got out of reach. He struggled on special teams, surrendering a power-play goal and two shorthanded ones. Thompson needs to shake this off. He has one win in his last six starts, and along the way, he has allowed 24 goals. A reset is in order. Until then, keep Thompson on your bench.

Looking back to January, the goaltender was able to get into a groove, winning five of six games over a stretch where Vegas leaned on him heavily. As the Knights move toward the postseason, we hope Thompson can get his head in the game while managing a lighter workload. Keep an eye on matchups right now. The only team he's beaten recently is San Jose.

  • Golden Knights' Logan Thompson: Shuts out Sharks

Thompson posted a 29-save shutout in Monday's 4-0 win over the Sharks. Thompson has seen little playing time since Adin Hill returned from an undisclosed injury. Monday's performance was a strong case for Thompson to play more, as he earned his first shutout of the season and the fourth of his career in a strong outing. The 26-year-old went 5-4-1 with a 2.72 GAA and a .912 save percentage over 10 games in January, but this was his first action since the All-Star break. Hill will likely get the nod Tuesday versus the Predators, but it's unclear how the Golden Knights' goalie usage might develop beyond that as head coach Bruce Cassidy deals with the luxury of having two capable netminders.

  • Golden Knights' Logan Thompson: Set for backup duties

Thompson (illness) will back up Adin Hill in Saturday's game versus the Hurricanes, Jesse Granger of The Athletic reports. Thompson was unavailable for Monday's game versus the Wild, but the Golden Knights' extended break this week gave him plenty of time to get healthy. Hill will make his fourth straight start, which has seemingly relegated Thompson to more of a backup role, though an upcoming back-to-back Monday versus the Sharks and Tuesday versus the Predators should afford both goalies a chance to start.

  • Golden Knights' Logan Thompson: Unavailable versus Minnesota

Thompson is under the weather and won't be available for Monday's matchup with the Wild. With Thompson unavailable, Adin Hill will probably get the start against Minnesota with Jiri Patera, who has been recalled from the minors, serving as his backup. Another update on Thompson, who hasn't played since surrendering four goals on 28 shots in a 5-2 loss to Detroit on Jan. 27, should surface prior to Saturday's game against Carolina.

Hill proceeded to win his first two starts since his return, though Thompson has been solid with a 5-3-1 record, a 2.56 GAA and a .918 save percentage through nine games in January. Thompson and Hill are both playing well enough to be useful in fantasy, which could result in a timeshare situation following the All-Star break.

With a back-to-back on the schedule, Adin Hill (undisclosed) could get the starting nod for Tuesday's clash with the Islanders, though he will need to be activated off injured reserve first.
