Red Wings' Ville Husso: Game collapses and can't recover
Husso made 30 saves in a 6-5 overtime loss to San Jose on Thursday.
Things were going great for Husso and the Red Wings. They'd forced Sharks' starter Mackenzie Blackwood from the crease in the second period, and suddenly the game closed in on Husso. In under six minutes, the Wings collapsed and the Sharks poured in four goals to knot things up. The Sharks tied it with an extra attacker on the ice, and then finished the game 37 seconds into overtime. The Wings have been strong lately, but that's largely on the back of a 4-1-0 run by backup Alex Lyon. Husso is 5-3-2 in his last 10 starts.... See More ... See Less

Red Wings' Ville Husso: Faces 41 shots in loss

Red Wings' Ville Husso: Sharp against Boston
Husso made 25 saves in Friday's 5-2 win over the Bruins.
Boston's been beaten only twice in regulation so far this season, and Husso has been the goalie to do it both times. The 28-year-old hadn't played since Nov. 11, missing Detroit's games in Sweden for the Global Series due to the birth of his child, and Friday's outing was the first time since Oct. 21 he'd allowed fewer than three goals. Despite his 3.47 GAA and .888 save percentage on the year, Husso's won four of his last five starts and carries a 7-3-1 record.... See More ... See Less

Red Wings' Ville Husso: New parent works on timing

Husso, who owns a 6-3-1 record, 3.61 GAA and .885 save percentage, reportedly skated in Sweden, though it's too soon to tell whether he'll get the nod for Wednesday's home clash with the Devils.... Red Wings' Ville Husso: Back in win column
Husso allowed four goals on 22 shots in Saturday's 5-4 win over the Blue Jackets.
The Red Wings jumped out to a two-goal lead, only to surrender three unanswered goals, with Husso snakebitten by his team's lackluster play in transition. As the see-saw battle continued, the Wings quickly bounced right back with a similar offensive run to let Husso off the hook. Despite the Finn struggling with career-worst rate stats -- including a 3.61 GAA and an .885 save percentage -- Husso's 6-3-1 record is the redeeming factor when assessing his fantasy value.... Red Wings' Ville Husso: Hangs on for fifth win
Husso made 26 saves in Saturday's 5-4 win over the Bruins.
The Red Wings were down a goal coming out of both the first and second periods, but they erupted for three straight tallies to begin the third and get Husso the win. Offensive support has been the story of the netminder's season so far -- despite an impressive 5-2-1 record in eight starts, his 3.37 GAA and .896 save percentage suggest his margin for error is a thin one, and Husso could lose more playing time to James Reimer if he continues to be outplayed by the more experienced netminder.... He's 4-2-1 with a 3.28 GAA and a .900 save percentage in seven outings this year. Husso might not improve much in terms of GAA or save percentage as the campaign progresses, but the Red Wings are shaping up to be an offensive powerhouse, so the 28-year-old might be a solid source of wins for fantasy managers.... Husso made 27 saves in a 4-1 loss to the Bruins on Saturday. He allowed three goals.
His teammates were outcompeted badly in the first period, and Husso did all he could to hold them in the game. On Pavel Zacha's power-play goal that made it 1-0, Husso made two great saves before Zacha stuffed in a rebound. The second goal got past him clean and the third was scored on a David Pastrnak penalty shot. Saturday was Husso's first regulation loss since Opening Night against the Devils (3-2-1), but his 3.33 GAA and .894 save percentage pale in comparison to James Reimer's 2-1-0, 1.68 GAA and .939 save percentage.
