  • Red Wings' Ville Husso: Suffers setback

Husso (lower body) suffered a setback in his return from a lower-body injury in warmups with AHL Grand Rapids on Friday, Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Husso has made just one appearance since Dec. 18, aggravating his lower-body injury Feb. 13 versus Edmonton. It appears unlikely now that Husso will return before the end of the regular season. The 29-year-old goaltender went 9-5-2 this season with an .892 save percentage and a 3.55 GAA.

  • Red Wings' Ville Husso: At practice Monday

Husso (lower body) participated in practice Monday for the first time since getting hurt against Edmonton on Feb. 13, Ansar Khan of MLive.com reports.

While Husso is practicing, head coach Derek Lalonde told Ansar Khan of MLive.com that the goalie isn't much closer to return and remains week-to-week. Considering he has made just one appearance in goal over the Red Wings' last 30 contests, fantasy managers probably shouldn't be expecting him to be immediately thrust into the crease or to supplant Alex Lyon as the No. 1 option for Detroit even when he's cleared to play.

  • Red Wings' Ville Husso: Hurt in Tuesday's game

Husso was hurt when the Oilers scored their first goal in Tuesday's game, Jason Gregor of Sports 1440 Edmonton reports.

Per the team, Husso sustained a lower-body injury. Husso was replaced by Alex Lyon immediately following Leon Draisaitl's tally. This was Husso's first game since Dec. 18, but he lasted just 8:48, stopping six of seven shots. If Husso has aggravated a previous lower-body injury, Lyon and James Reimer will likely take over as the goaltending duo for the Red Wings.

  • Red Wings' Ville Husso: Finishes AHL conditioning stint

Husso (lower body) completed his conditioning stint with AHL Grand Rapids on Saturday.

Husso earned a 25-save shutout Friday in his lone start during the conditioning stint. He hadn't played with the Red Wings since Dec. 18 because of the lower-body injury, so his time in the AHL helped shake off the rust. Alex Lyon is expected to start in Saturday's home game versus Vegas, but Husso is an option to dress as the backup netminder.

  • Red Wings' Ville Husso: Placed on injured reserve

Husso (lower body) was put on injured reserve Wednesday.

  • Red Wings' Ville Husso: Tough loss to Carolina

Husso stopped 37 shots in Thursday's 2-1 loss to the Hurricanes.

The 28-year-old netminder made only one real mistake on the night, but it proved costly -- Husso came out of his crease to try and handle a dump-in attempt in the second period, only to whiff on the puck completely. It bounced off the end boards and slid right in front of the net, gifting the game-winning goal to Jordan Staal. It's just the second time in his last 12 starts that Husso has allowed fewer than three goals, and over that stretch he's stumbled to a 3.75 GAA and .888 save percentage despite a 6-4-2 record. With Alex Lyon's hot streak having faded and James Reimer still trying to find his form, however, Husso figures to remain Detroit's No. 1 goalie by default, at least for now.
