Bastian (lower body) was placed on injured reserve Friday. Bastian will miss at least the next three games after being injured in Thursday's 5-1 loss to the Rangers. He has registered 12 points, 57 shots on goal and 144 hits in 54 contests this season. New Jersey summoned Brian Halonen from AHL Utica on Friday for some additional forward depth.... See More ... Devils' Nathan Bastian: Rough going Thursday
Bastian (upper body) didn't finish Thursday's game versus the Rangers, Amanda Stein of the Devils' official site reports. Bastian was bloodied on a hit by Matt Rempe in the first period and quickly left the game. When he came back, Bastian got hit by Jacob Trouba and then fought the Rangers' captain. While Bastian finished the second period, he didn't come back for the third, and he should be considered day-to-day ahead of Saturday's contest versus the Canadiens.... See More ... See Less -
Devils' Nathan Bastian: Two goals in Stadium Series win
Bastian scored a pair of goals in Saturday's 6-3 Stadium Series victory over the Flyers. Bastian extended New Jersey's lead to 4-1 late in the second period, beating Samuel Ersson with a wrister on the rush, before adding an empty-netter to seal the Devils' win. Bastian, who only has two multi-point efforts this year, came into Saturday's contest with just three goals this season and one in his previous 14 outings. The 26-year-old forward has 12 points (five goals, seven assists) and 141 hits through 52 games this campaign while skating in the Devils' bottom six.... See More ... See Less -
Devils' Nathan Bastian: Helps out twice in overtime win
Bastian posted two assists in Monday's 6-5 overtime win against the Golden Knights. Bastian finished with a plus-2 rating, a shot on goal and a hit in his 15:39 of ice time. It was the right winger's first multi-point showing of the season. His last multi-point performance came on April 11, 2023 when he had three assists in a victory against the Sabres. He'll look to add to his totals in a road game Thursday against the Hurricanes.... See More ... See Less -
Devils' Nathan Bastian: Nets third goal of season
Bastian found the back of the net in a 4-1 win over Columbus on Fridaay. Bastian earned his third marker and eighth point in 41 contests this season. The tally also snapped his three-game scoring drought. Bastian is serving strictly in a bottom-six role with irregular power-play ice time, so he shouldn't be expected to make regular offensive contributions this year.... See More ... See Less -
Devils' Nathan Bastian: Supplies rare helper
Bastian recorded an assist in Wednesday's 6-3 win over the Capitals. The Devils were in control for basically the entire game, with fourth-line winger Bastian even getting in on the action. He's scored one goal to go along with five helpers through 34 contests. New Jersey ranks seventh in the league at 3.46 goals per game, but Bastian simply doesn't play enough to warrant consideration in fantasy leagues.... See More ... See Less -
Devils' Nathan Bastian: Game-time decision
According to coach Lindy Ruff, Bastian (undisclosed) will be a game-time decision Saturday versus Detroit, Amanda Stein of the Devils' official site reports. Bastian has a pair of assists in his last three games. The 26-year-old winger has one goal, five points and 56 hits in 29 contests this season.... See More ... See Less -
Devils' Nathan Bastian: Manages assist in win
Bastian posted an assist and three hits in Tuesday's 6-5 win over the Canucks. Bastian snapped his seven-game point drought when he set up a Michael McLeod tally in the first period. The 25-year-old Bastian has been limited to fourth-line minutes for much of the campaign, and he hasn't scored enough to warrant a promotion in the lineup. He's at three points with 26 shots on net, 39 hits, four PIM and a minus-9 rating over 22 contests.... See More ... See Less -
Devils' Nathan Bastian: Plays mostly on special teams
Bastian skated just 8:27 of ice time in Thursday's 4-3 overtime win over the Flyers, recording one shot and one blocked shot. The majority of Bastian's ice time came on special teams, as he logged 1:40 on the power play and 2:43 shorthanded. His role on the second power-play unit can give Bastian an inkling of fantasy relevance at times, but a minuscule fourth-line role at even strength makes it tough for the 25-year-old winger to score consistently. Bastian's currently mired in a six-game point drought, which has him stuck on one goal and one assist this season.... See More ... See Less -
Devils' Nathan Bastian: Gets first point in eighth game
Bastian contributed an assist, one shot, one blocked shot, two hits, two PIM and a plus-1 rating in Thursday's 5-3 win over the Wild. This is about as much as Bastian can stuff the stat-sheet from his little-used fourth-line role; all that production came in just 8:24 TOI on Thursday. The assist was Bastian's first point of 2023-24. He had six goals and nine assists in 43 appearance last season.... See More ... See Less -
Devils' Nathan Bastian: Inks two-year contract
Bastian signed a two-year, $2.7 million contract with New Jersey on Saturday. Bastian accounted for six goals, 15 points and 99 hits in 43 games with the Devils last season. He should be expected to occupy a fourth-line role with the team in 2023-24.... See More ... See Less -
Nathan Bastian: Not qualified by Devils
Bastian didn't get a qualifying offer from New Jersey, which will result in him becoming an unrestricted free agent Saturday, per Stephen Whyno of the Associated Press. Bastian had six goals, 15 points, 31 PIM, 99 hits and 38 blocks in 43 outings with the Devils last season. He completed a two-year, $1.65 million contract and would have required a one-year, $918,750 qualifying offer for New Jersey to retain his exclusive negotiating rights.... See More ... See Less -
Devils' Nathan Bastian: Grabs three helpers in win
Bastian logged three assists in Tuesday's 6-2 win over the Sabres. Bastian picked up a helper on Jesper Boqvist's tally in the first period, Miles Wood's in the second and an empty-netter from Tomas Tatar in the final frame. It's the first three-point game this season for Bastian and his first multi-point effort since Nov. 5. The 25-year-old winger has six goals and nine assists in 42 games this season while moving in and out of a bottom-six role in New Jersey's lineup.... See More ... See Less -
Devils' Nathan Bastian: Set to return against Pens
Bastian (upper body) is expected to suit up versus Pittsburgh on Tuesday, Amanda Stein of the Devils' official site reports. Bastian will be back in the lineup following his 11-game stint on the shelf due to his upper-body issue. Injuries have limited the winger to just 36 games this season in which he notched six goals and six assists. If Bastian can get back to being fully fit heading into the postseason, he could be a sneaky low-end fantasy target even with his limited role.... See More ... See Less -
Devils' Nathan Bastian: Unavailable Sunday
Bastian (upper body) will not play Sunday against the Jets, Amanda Stein of the Devils' official site reports. Bastian has been progressing towards a return but will miss his 11th straight game. His next chance to suit up will be Tuesday against the Penguins.... See More ... See Less -
Devils' Nathan Bastian: Will miss Saturday's game
Bastian (upper body) won't return Saturday versus Chicago, per Amanda Stein of the Devils' official site. Bastian did join the Devils for the pregame warmups, so even though he won't be in the lineup Saturday, it does seem like he's close to returning. Perhaps Bastian will be an option for Sunday's contest against Winnipeg. The 25-year-old, who last played March 12, has six goals and 12 points in 39 appearances this season.... See More ... Devils' Nathan Bastian: Won't return Friday
Bastian (upper body) isn't in the lineup for Friday's game against Buffalo, per Amanda Stein of the Devils' official site. Bastian will miss his sixth consecutive contest. He has six goals, 12 points, 31 PIM and 90 hits in 39 appearances this season. When Bastian is ready to return, he'll likely serve in a bottom-six capacity.... See More ... See Less -
Devils' Nathan Bastian: Still sidelined
Bastian (upper body) will be out at least two more games, per Amanda Stein of the Devils' official site. Bastian will miss his third and fourth games after suffering an upper-body injury March 12 against the Hurricanes. Even when healthy, the 25-year-old Bastian may struggle to crack the Devils' lineup, with Curtis Lazar rounding out the team's bottom six. Bastian has six goals and six assists through 39 games this season.... See More ... See Less -
Devils' Nathan Bastian: Out Thursday
Bastian (upper body) isn't available for Thursday's game against Tampa Bay, according to Amanda Stein of the Devils' official site. It will be the second straight contest that Bastian has missed. He has six goals and 12 points in 39 appearances this season. Bastian will likely serve in a bottom-six capacity once he's healthy.... See More ... See Less -
Devils' Nathan Bastian: Out with upper-body injury
Bastian will miss out versus Tampa Bay on Tuesday due to an upper-body injury, Amanda Stein of the Devils' official site reports. Bastian has just one point in his last six contests while also dishing out 21 hits and averaging 10:37 of ice time. Bastian may have been in danger of losing his roster spot even if healthy with Curtis Lazar poised to make his Devils debut. Once given the all-clear, Bastian figures to be in the mix for a bottom-six role but could periodically serve as a healthy scratch.... See More ... See Less
