  • Stars' Tanner Kero: Clears waivers, sent to minors

Kero has cleared waivers and has been sent to the Texas Stars of the AHL, per the Dallas Stars website. Kero was shuffled between the NHL and AHL last season and the same scenario is likely to happen again this season. He had three assists in 23 games with Dallas last season while chipping in with five goals and 17 points in 28 AHL games.

  • Stars' Tanner Kero: Hits waivers

Kero was waived by the Stars on Friday, per CapFriendly. Kero cleared waivers twice last season as he split time between Dallas and AHL Texas. The 30-year-old forward has 35 points in 134 career NHL appearances. He could make an interesting depth option for several teams and he'll likely return to Dallas at some point during the regular season if he clears waivers again.

  • Stars' Tanner Kero: Placed on waivers

Kero was waived by the Stars on Thursday. Kero has managed just three points in 23 games this season while frequently serving as a healthy scratch. He'll likely be assigned to AHL Texas if he passes through waivers unclaimed.

  • Stars' Tanner Kero: Healthy scratch Friday

Kero was a healthy scratch for Friday's game versus the Blackhawks. Kero played in the last three games while Radek Faksa (lower body) was on the mend. With Faksa back, Kero exited the lineup, and he may have a tough time getting back in. With just three assists, 14 shots on net and a minus-5 rating in 23 games, the 29-year-old forward hasn't shown that he belongs in the lineup over younger options like Joel Kiviranta or Jacob Peterson, the latter of whom scored the shootout winner in Friday's 1-0 win.

  • Stars' Tanner Kero: Plucks apple in loss

Kero registered an assist in Tuesday's 4-3 loss to the Flames. Kero helped out on Joel Hanley's first NHL goal in the first period. The 29-year-old Kero has only seen a part-time role this year, but he still hadn't gotten on the scoresheet since Nov. 2. The winger is at three helpers, 11 shots on net and a minus-5 rating in 20 contests -- his presence on the Stars' fourth line will make him a non-factor in fantasy.

  • Stars' Tanner Kero: Exits COVID-19 protocols

Kero departed the NHL's COVID-19 protocols Monday, per Bruce LeVine of Dallas Stars Radio. Kero has missed the last three Stars' games while in the virus protocols. The 29-year-old has generated two points during an average 9:34 of ice time over 15 appearances this season.

  • Stars' Tanner Kero: Designated for COVID-19 protocols

Kero entered the NHL's COVID-19 protocols Monday. Kero has averaged 9:26 of ice time and been held without a point over his last three appearances. He recently returned from the NHL's concussion protocols last Tuesday. The 29-year-old is likely to miss Tuesday's contest against Montreal.

  • Stars' Tanner Kero: On injured reserve

Kero (concussion) won't be in the lineup against Florida on Thursday, Matthew DeFranks of The Dallas Morning News reports. He's also been designated for IR, per the NHL media site. The fact that Kero was flipped to injured reserve to make way for Joel Kiviranta is likely an indication Kero won't be back anytime soon. As such, fantasy players should probably consider the 29-year-old winger out indefinitely. Even once cleared to play, Kero is far from a lock for the lineup and may have to serve as a healthy scratch from time to time.

  • Stars' Tanner Kero: In concussion protocol

Kero has entered the league's concussion protocols, Bruce LeVine of Dallas Stars Radio reports, and should be considered out indefinitely. Kero -- who was taken off the ice on a stretcher during Saturday's clash with Chicago -- should probably be expected to miss at least the team's next three outings. Even once cleared to play, the Michigan native is far from a lock for the lineup and may have to settle for a spot in the press box from time to time.

  • Stars' Tanner Kero: Taken off ice on stretcher

Kero was stretchered off the ice after suffering an upper-body injury in Saturday's game versus the Blackhawks, Scott Powers of The Athletic reports. Kero was leveled on a high hit by Brett Connolly near the boards early in the first period, which left Kero motionless on the ice. It's safe to assume he won't return to the contest, and he'll undergo further medical evaluations to determine the extent of his injury. Per Ben Pope of the Chicago Sun-Times, Kero was conscious and responsive en route to the hospital. An update on Kero's status should surface in the coming days.

  • Stars' Tanner Kero: Hits waivers

Kero was waived by Dallas on Thursday, Matthew DeFranks of The Dallas Morning News reports. Kero has sat as a healthy scratch for five of the Stars' last six games, so this move doesn't necessarily come as a surprise. If he goes unclaimed on waivers, Kero will presumably report to AHL Texas.

  • Stars' Tanner Kero: Grabs helper Tuesday

Kero recorded an assist in Tuesday's 4-3 shootout loss to the Jets. Kero entered the lineup after serving as a healthy scratch for the last two games, replacing Denis Gurianov in a bottom-six role. The assist was Kero's second in seven contests this year. The 29-year-old is unlikely to play higher than the fourth line, so fantasy managers won't need to keep tabs on his output.

  • Stars' Tanner Kero: Pockets assist in loss

Kero produced an assist in Saturday's 3-1 loss to the Bruins. Kero has yet to crack 10 minutes of ice time in either of the Stars' two games yet, but he set up Luke Glendening for the team's lone goal Saturday. The 29-year-old Kero put up 10 points in 39 games last year in a bottom-six role. He's likely got a spot in the lineup until one of Jason Robertson or Blake Comeau return from their upper-body injuries.

Kero signed a two-year, two-way contract extension with the Stars on Monday. Kero will bolster Dallas' organizational depth, as he can play as a top forward with AHL Texas or slide into a bottom-six role with the big club when called upon. The 28-year-old Michigan native had three goals and seven assists in 39 games for the Stars in 2020-21, spending the whole season at the NHL level as the team frequently battled injuries up front.

Kero recorded two power-play assists in Thursday's 7-3 loss to the Red Wings. Through 29 appearances, Kero has eight points, 28 shots on net and 22 hits. When he draws into the lineup, he typically works in a bottom-six role.

  • Stars' Tanner Kero: Deposits opening goal

Kero scored a goal and went plus-2 in Tuesday's 5-2 win over the Red Wings. Kero struck just 2:55 into the game on a pass from Jamie Benn. The 28-year-old Kero hasn't done much on offense with just six points and 27 shots on net through 28 games. He's been good enough to stick in the lineup for 11 of the Stars' 12 contests in April, but he mainly works in a bottom-six role. He played on the second line Tuesday due to Roope Hintz (lower body) not suiting up.
