Tampa Bay released Walcott on Saturday from his professional tryout agreement and returned him to AHL Syracuse.
Walcott signed a one-year, AHL deal with the Crunch in August. The 29-year-old blueliner provided 13 goals, 32 points and 103 PIM in 67 games with Syracuse last campaign.

Erlendsson adds that Walcott could skate on a line with Gemel Smith and Mathieu Joseph, suggesting Walcott will be playing up front in his NHL debut rather than on the blue line. The 27-year-old Walcott has three points in nine games with AHL Syracuse this season.

No word surfaced regarding whether or not the blueliner was able to return, but, given the potential severity inferred by Burns, it wouldn't be surprising if Walcott's night ended there. More information on his injury and a potential timetable could surface in the coming days.

Walcott inked a one-year, two-way contract with Tampa Bay on Thursday.
Walcott -- who was originally drafted by the Rangers in 2014 -- has spent the past three seasons playing for AHL Syracuse without earning a call-up. The defenseman notched five goals, 11 assists and 70 PIM this past year with the Crunch. Even if the Lightning don't re-sign Andrej Sustr or Slater Koekkoek, it's hard to find a spot in the lineup for Walcott given the emergence of Mikhail Sergachev and Jake Dotchin.
