  • Lightning's Max Lagace: Secures one-year extension

Lagace signed a one-year deal with Tampa Bay on Sunday, per PuckPedia. Lagace posted a solid 2.31 GAA and .910 save percentage in 36 games with AHL Syracuse last season. However, he allowed 10 goals in his two NHL appearances. The 29-year-old should fill a depth role with the organization again for the 2022-23 campaign.

  • Lightning's Max Lagace: Reassigned to AHL Syracuse

Lagace was demoted to the minors Monday. Lagace was deemed expendable after both Andrei Vasilevskiy and Brian Elliott cleared the league's COVID-19 protocols. Still, Lagace could still be brought back up to the taxi squad from time to time this season in order to provide the Bolts with some emergency depth between the pipes.

  • Lightning's Max Lagace: Can't hold back Florida tide

Lagace made 21 saves on 27 shots in two periods of play Thursday in a 9-3 loss to the Panthers. He was replaced by Hugo Alnefelt. It was an awful Thursday -- 15 of the 18 Panthers' skaters recorded at least one point. At this point, Andrei Vasilevskiy and Brian Elliott can't get back from COVID-19 protocols fast enough.

  • Lightning's Max Lagace: Starting again Thursday

Lagace will protect the road goal in Thursday's game versus the Panthers, per the NHL media site. Lagace allowed four goals on 31 shots but earned the win over the Canadiens on Tuesday. He'll face a much tougher opponent in the Panthers for his second start of the season, which makes Lagace a risky option in fantasy.

  • Lightning's Max Lagace: Starting Tuesday

Lagace will be elevated to the active roster and get the starting nod against the Canadiens at home Tuesday, Joe Smith of The Athletic reports. Lagace steps into the crease as both Andrei Vasilevskiy and Brian Elliott are currently in the league's COVID-19 protocols. Barring any change in either player's status, the 28-year-old Lagace may be tasked with defending the cage versus Florida on Thursday as well. Considering Lagace has logged just two NHL games over the past four seasons, fantasy players probably shouldn't be expecting much out of the Quebec native.

  • Lightning's Max Lagace: Added to taxi squad

Lagace was recalled to the taxi squad from AHL Syracuse on Monday. With Andrei Vasilevskiy and Brian Elliott in COVID-19 protocols, Lagace could be promoted to the active roster for Tuesday's game against Montreal. He's sporting a 3.86 GAA and an .861 save percentage through seven AHL games this season.

  • Lightning's Max Lagace: Possible call-up coming

Lagace is one of three AHL goalies who could get game action Tuesday against Montreal. Amir Miftakhov, Hugo Alnefelt and Lagace have all toiled in the AHL this season, and Lagace has had the lowest save percentage of all three (.861). He does have taxi squad experience with the Pens from last season, so he might get the nod to start despite his poor production.

  • Lightning's Max Lagace: Waived for AHL assignment

Lagace was put on waivers for the purpose of heading to the AHL, reports Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports. Lagace is just an injury away from an NHL backup job, but at 28, he has just 16 NHL starts on his resume. He will toil in the AHL and his playing time will be limited if he does hit NHL ice.

  • Lightning's Max Lagace: Slated to start

Lagace is on track to start between the pipes on the road in Tuesday's preseason clash with Carolina, Bryan Burns of the Lightning's official site reports. Lagace will probably play a portion of Tuesday night's contest before being replaced by Amir Miftakhov for the remainder of the game. Lagace is behind Andrei Vasilevskiy and Brian Elliott on Tampa Bay's depth chart and likely won't see much action with the big club in 2021-22.

  • Lightning's Max Lagace: Adds to Tampa's goalie depth

Lagace signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Lightning on Wednesday. Lagace spent most of 2020-21 as the Penguins' taxi squad goalie. His only NHL appearance was a 1-0 shutout win over the Sabres in May, and he added a 4-3-2 record with a 2.30 GAA and .907 save percentage with AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. Lagace is unlikely to displace the newly signed Brian Elliott as Andrei Vasilevskiy's backup -- only an injury to one of the top-two Lightning goalies would lead to Lagace seeing much NHL time in the upcoming season.

  • Penguins' Max Lagace: Shuts out Sabres

Lagace turned aside 29 shots in Saturday's 1-0 win over the Sabres. Getting the start with both Tristan Jarry (upper body) and Casey DeSmith (lower body) nursing injuries ahead of the playoffs, Lagace -- who'd only gotten one NHL start since 2017-18 -- recorded his first career shutout. With both Jarry and DeSmith expected to be healthy when the postseason begins, Lagace's tenure with Pittsburgh may only last one game.

  • Penguins' Max Lagace: Making Penguins debut

Lagace will start between the pipes in Saturday's home game versus the Sabres, Mark Divver of the New England Hockey Journal reports. Lagace hasn't appeared in an NHL contest since 2018-19, when he surrendered four goals on 31 shots as a member of the Golden Knights in a 5-2 loss to the Hurricanes. He'll attempt to earn his seventh career NHL victory in a favorable home matchup with a Buffalo team that's 7-17-3 on the road this season.

  • Penguins' Max Lagace: Called up from minors

Lagace was called up from AHL Wilkes-Barre on Tuesday. Casey DeSmith (lower body) is a game-time decision Tuesday against Philadelphia, so Lagace may dress and back up Tristan Jarry. Nonetheless, Lagace hasn't seen NHL action since his single appearance with Vegas in 2018-19, so there likely won't be much to see here from a fantasy perspective.

  • Penguins' Max Lagace: Back to minors

Lagace was reassigned to AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Saturday. Lagace sports a .911 save percentage and 2.10 GAA through eight AHL games this season. He could continue joining the taxi squad as an insurance body on occasion but shouldn't see any time on the active roster.

  • Penguins' Max Lagace: Added to taxi squad

Lagace was promoted to Pittsburgh's taxi squad Thursday. Lagace will be on hand as an emergency option for Thursday's game versus Philadelphia. The 28-year-old netminder hasn't appeared in an NHL contest since 2018-19.

  • Penguins' Max Lagace: Back to taxi squad

Lagace was designated for the taxi squad Saturday. Lagace has yet to play a game with the big club this season. Before rising to the taxi squad, the 28-year-old was impressive with AHL Wilkes-Barre Scranton, putting up a .920 save percentage and a 3-2-1 record across six appearances.

  • Penguins' Max Lagace: Elevated to active roster

Lagace was recalled to the active roster Thursday and will back up Casey DeSmith against the Bruins on Thursday. Lagace last featured in an NHL game back in 2018-19 when he was with the Golden Knights and gave up four goals on 31 shots in a losing effort. With Tristan Jarry (upper body) unavailable, Lagace figures to serve as the No. 2 option behind DeSmith but is unlikely to make any starts for the Pens.

  • Penguins' Max Lagace: Added to taxi squad

Lagace was recalled to the taxi squad Tuesday. Lagace's promotion certainly doesn't bode well for the Penguins after starter Tristan Jarry was forced to leave Monday's clash with the Islanders after the first period due to an upper-body injury. Regardless of Jarry's status against Boston on Thursday, Lagace shouldn't be expected to get into the lineup, as Casey DeSmith would likely take over as the No. 1.

  • Penguins' Max Lagace: Jumps up to taxi squad

Lagace was recalled to the taxi squad from the minors Monday. In five appearances for the Baby Pens, Lagace went 3-1-1 with a .917 save percentage. The move to elevate Lagace doesn't mean he will be playing anytime soon but rather as a way to ensure Emil Larmi gets some minutes in the minors after being sent down in a corresponding move. The duo figure to frequently switch places throughout the year in order to keep both keepers playing.

  • Penguins' Max Lagace: Returned to taxi squad

Lagace was reassigned to the taxi squad Tuesday, Seth Rorabaugh of TribLive.com reports. With Casey DeSmith (illness) available to serve as the No. 2 behind Tristan Jarry against the Caps on Tuesday, Lagace's services on the active roster were no longer needed. The 28-year-old Lagace should continue to serve as an emergency option on the taxi squad.
