Chris Stewart: Announces retirement
Stewart will hang up his skates and call it a career. The veteran will join the Flyers as a player development coach.
Stewart spent 11 years playing in the NHL for Colorado, St. Louis, Buffalo, Minnesota, Anaheim, Calgary and Philadelphia. Over the course of his career, the 32-year-old winger registered 160 goals, 322 assists and 750 PIM in 668 appearances.

Flyers' Chris Stewart: Headed for minors
Stewart cleared waivers Thursday and will be reassigned to AHL Lehigh Valley.
Stewart's demotion was expected as long as he went unclaimed off the waiver wire. Considering the winger managed just one helper in 16 games this year and averaged a meager 7:47 of ice time, it shouldn't come as a shock to see him land in the minors. If he can rediscover his game, the Toronto native could eventually make his way back to Philadelphia this season.

Stewart seems likely to hang around with the Flyers for at least Wednesday's game against the Blues, with no other options available on the Flyers' current rosters. After that, the team is expected to recall Joel Farabee again, potentially bumping Stewart out of the lineup yet again.

Considering he's been with the Flyers on a full-time basis for a mere 10 days, that's not bad at all. In the early going, he appears to be back to his 2016-17 form when he recorded 94 PIM. However, outside of maybe penalty minutes, Stewart doesn't excel in any particular category, making him hard to roster in any format. In his last full NHL season, Stewart posted 10 goals and 16 points with a minus-5 rating and 27 PIM in 54 games during 2017-18.

Flyers' Chris Stewart: Inks one-year deal with Flyers
Stewart signed a one-year, one-way contract with Philadelphia on Tuesday.
Stewart attended Philadelphia's training camp on a professional tryout agreement, but was unable to land a deal prior to the start of the regular season. The Flyers evidently liked what they saw in terms of the winger's size and veteran leadership during camp, which led to them coming to terms with the 31-year-old less than two weeks into the campaign. Stewart should be a solid rotational option for Philadelphia in 2019-20, but he won't be worth roster consideration in fantasy circles.

Stewart signed a one-year contract with HC Slovan Bratislava of the KHL ahead of the 2018-19 campaign, but he ultimately backed out of the deal citing "serious family problems." The 31-year-old winger, who notched 16 points in 54 games split between the Flames and Wild in 2017-18, will now attempt to make an NHL comeback. Stewart should be considered a longshot to make Philadelphia's roster, but it's possible new head coach Alain Vigneault will be intrigued by his gritty nature.

Stewart has joined HC Slovan Bratislava (KHL) on a one-year deal, the team announced Wednesday.
Stewart logged 54 games split between the Wild and Flames last season, in which he tallied 10 goals and six helpers. The winger will make his first foray into the KHL, having previously spent time in Germany and the Czech Republic during the 2012-13 lockout. This could mark the end of the veteran's NHL career, which would see him retire having tallied 160 goals, 161 assists and 729 PIM in 652 outings.

Flames' Chris Stewart: Sees limited minutes after joining Calgary
Stewart appeared in 54 total games in 2017-18 playing for both Minnesota and Calgary, scoring 16 points (10 goals, six assists) while recording 27 PIM and 48 hits.
With Calgary, the 30-year-old was able to score a goal and two assists in seven games, but he was also a healthy scratch for eight of 15 contests to close the season. Stewart is set to be an unrestricted free agent, and if he doesn't return to Calgary, he should be able to find a bottom-six forward role somewhere in the league.
