The move corresponds with the Jets activating Marcelino McCrary-Ball (hamstring) from injured reserve. Weston served solely on special teams across three regular-season games and posted two tackles over that span. If he clears waivers, Weston could remain with the Jets as a member of the team's practice squad.

Weston (groin) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Broncos, Eric Allen of the Jets' official site reports.
The undrafted rookie opened the season on IR due to a groin injury. He was cleared to return to practice Wednesday and ended the week strong with a full session Friday, but he has not been given the green light to make his NFL regular-season debut. Weston's next opportunity to do so is Week 7 against the Panthers on Sunday, Oct. 19.

The Florida product missed the Jets' first five games this season after he was placed on IR in late August with an undisclosed injury. He now has 21 days to be added to the team's active roster before reverting to IR. When Weston returns from injury, he's expected to play a depth role in the Jets' linebacker corps.
