  • Lions' Jack Campbell: Strong rookie season

Campbell recorded 95 tackles, 2.0 sacks and one pass defended over 17 regular-season games in 2023. Campbell seemed ticketed for a starting job alongside Alex Anzalone after Detroit spent a first-round pick on Campbell, an off-ball linebacker, in the 2023 NFL Draft. While 2021 fourth-rounder Derrick Barnes opened the year in the starting lineup, both Campbell and Barnes ended the season having logged around 60 percent of the defensive snaps, and Campbell joined Anzalone in the starting lineup for 11 of the final 12 games while Barnes started only eight of those contests (while missing one game to injury). Thanks in part to a larger role on special teams, Campbell ultimately averaged half of a tackle more per game than Barnes along with one more sack and a pass breakup. With plenty of room to grow from a playing-time standpoint combined with Barnes entering the final year of his contract, the 23-year-old Campbell is a strong bet to be in Detroit's long-term plans and is a realistic candidate to have a bigger role entering his second season in the league.

  • Lions' Jack Campbell: Limited involvement at Dallas

Campbell recorded five tackles (two solo) in Saturday's 20-19 loss at Dallas. Campbell's production was fine in Week 17, but it could be read as somewhat concerning that he was again third in snaps (39) among Lions linebackers behind Derrick Barnes (43) and Alex Anzalone (62). Detroit's matchup versus the Vikings in Week 18 does not play to Campbell's strength in defending against the run.

  • Lions' Jack Campbell: Logs double-digit tackles in loss

Campbell logged 10 tackles (six solo) in Detroit's 28-13 loss to the Bears on Sunday. Campbell had a productive performance once again despite the loss, as he led the Lions in tackles. This also served as the first time the rookie first-round pick has tallied double-digit tackles in his career, and he now has 70 total (41 solo) on the season.

  • Lions' Jack Campbell: Another productive outing

Campbell logged nine total tackles (four solo), including two tackles for loss in Sunday's 33-28 win over the Saints. Campbell tied his season-high in tackles during Sunday's contest, and his nine stops were also enough to tie Derrick Barnes for the Lions' leading tackler. The 2023 first-round pick has had a solid rookie season, but he's been a little inconsistent thus far, recording four or less tackles in six of the team's 12 games. Look for Campbell to continue learning and improving down the stretch for Detroit's defense.

Campbell registered nine tackles (five solo) during the Lions' 31-26 win against Chicago on Sunday. • Lions' Jack Campbell: Records season-best seven tackles

Campbell recorded seven tackles (three solo) in the Lions' Week 6 win over the Bucs Sunday. The 18th overall pick in this year's Draft, Campbell made his second start of the season versus Tampa Bay, and his seven tackles marked a new season-high. • Lions' Jack Campbell: Notches first career sack

Campbell tallied six tackles (three solo), including a sack, against the Falcons in a Week 3 win Sunday. Campbell saw his most playing time as a pro, logging 57 percent of Detroit's defensive snaps in the contest. He finished with six total tackles for the second straight game and picked up his first NFL sack when he brought down Desmond Ridder on the final play of the first half. The No. 18 pick in this year's draft appears to already be growing into a significant role in the Lions' defensive scheme.

  • Lions' Jack Campbell: Six tackles against Seattle

Campbell recorded six tackles during Sunday's 37-31 loss to Seattle. Campbell came off the bench as Alex Anzalone, Derrick Barnes and James Houston (ankle) started at linebacker. He did well production-wise despite playing just a third of the defensive snaps, as five of his tackles came on defense opposed to special teams, where he has logged over half of the snaps in each game so far. There was a stretch in the third quarter when Campbell was involved on three consecutive tackles, and he later made back-to-back plays in the fourth quarter on short gains to Seattle's top two draft picks, Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Zach Charbonnet. With Houston set to miss multiple weeks due to a fractured ankle, Campbell could be in store for a boost in playing time sooner than later.
