The Texans designated Scruggs (hamstring) to return from injured reserve Wednesday.
Scruggs suffered a hamstring injury during the team's preseason final and has been on injured reserve since then. The 23-year-old returned to practice Wednesday, and the Texans will now have 21 days to officially activate him.

Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reported Wednesday that Scruggs (hamstring) is one or two weeks away from returning.
Scruggs sustained a hamstring injury in the Texans' preseason finale against the Saints and was subsequently placed on injured reserve on Aug. 31. Once he returns, the rookie center out of Penn State could take over the starting job from Michael Deiter.

Scruggs sustained a leg injury during Sunday's preseason game against the Saints, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Following his early exit, Scruggs was held out of the remainder of the game as a precautionary measure, and it's unclear whether he'll be available for the Texans' regular-season opener against the Ravens on Sept. 10. If he's unavailable, Jimmy Morrissey could take on a starting role for Houston.

Texans' Juice Scruggs: Moves up depth chart
Scruggs replaced Scott Quessenberry (knee) during Thursday's practice session, Deepi Sidhu of the Texans' official site reports.
Quessenberry went down with a knee injury, which was later learned to be a torn ACL and MCL. That means Scruggs, the second-round selection out of Penn State in 2023 NFL Draft, moves to the top of the center depth chart. Houston poured a lot offseason dollars into its offensive line, which will now operate with a rookie at center.
