Matt Araiza: Waived by Buffalo
The Bills waived Araiza on Saturday.
Araiza is facing a civil suit in California due to his alleged involvement in a rape case, a suit which first came to light Wednesday. The Bills ended up holding out the punter during Friday's preseason finale at Carolina and now have taken the next step to remove him from their roster. According to GM Brandon Beane, "This afternoon, we decided that releasing Matt Araiza was the best thing to do. Our culture in Buffalo is more important than winning football games."

Bills' Matt Araiza: Held out of Friday's contest
Araiza did not play in the Bills' preseason finale Friday night against the Panthers due to a civil suit in California surrounding his alleged involvement in a rape case, Katherine Fitzgerald of The Buffalo News reports.
The punter has disputed the allegations as recently as Friday, but the nature of the case has taken on a more serious tone in recent days, and the Bills felt it was best to hold Araiza out of Friday's contest while both the team and authorities investigate the situation further. Said coach Sean McDermott: "It is a situation that is extremely serious. Just hard to go through and it's not a situation that we or I take lightly whatsoever." He added, "It's very serious and I understand the sensitivity of the situation, it's clear...we have work to do to continue to figure this thing out here, and we're going to do that."

Bills' Matt Araiza: Wins job in rookie season
Araiza's teammate Matt Haack was released by the Bills on Monday.
The Punt God, drafted in April out of San Diego State in the sixth round, has already turned heads and ripped off an 82-yarder in the team's first preseason game against the Colts. Araiza will be the team's punter and likely holder for Tyler Bass all season in the challenging Buffalo climate.
