  • Cowboys' Peyton Hendershot: Three TDs in first NFL season

Hendershot (hamstring) caught 11 of 16 targets for 103 yards and two touchdowns over 17 regular-season games in 2022. He also added a two-yard rushing TD on his only carry.

An undrafted rookie out of Indiana, Hendershot impressed in training camp and won the No. 3 spot on the tight end depth chart to begin the season, a role that wound up leading to some fantasy value thanks to his nose for the end zone, even if he didn't see more than one target in any game after the Cowboys' Week 9 bye. Dalton Schultz is a free agent this offseason, and if he heads elsewhere, Hendershot could see a much more significant role in the Dallas offense in 2023, though he'd likely still be behind 2022 fourth-round pick Jake Ferguson.

  • Cowboys' Peyton Hendershot: Out Sunday

Hendershot (hamstring) is inactive Sunday against the 49ers, Todd Archer of reports.

Hendershot wasn't added to the team's injury report until Saturday. He suffered an injury in Monday's win over the Buccaneers, which at the time was described as a hip or groin issue and will force him out for the divisional round. In his absence, Sean McKeon will likely see a small uptick in opportunities against San Francisco.

  • Cowboys' Peyton Hendershot: Questionable for Sunday

Hendershot (hamstring) was added to the injury report and is listed as questionable for Sunday's matchup against the 49ers, Calvin Watkins of The Dallas Morning News reports.

The third-string tight end was hampered by a groin injury in the playoff win over the Buccaneers, but he still played his customary limited offensive snaps. Expect more of the same in a pivotal match against the 49ers.

  • Cowboys' Peyton Hendershot: Back on the field Monday

Hendershot (groin) returned to Monday's wild-card game against the Buccaneers, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports

Hendershot was forced out with a hip injury sustained at some point during the first quarter. However, the rookie tight end was able to quickly return for Dallas' first offensive series of the second quarter. Hendershot should continue to play a majority of special-teams snaps while providing depth behind top tight ends Dalton Schultz and Jake Ferguson.

  • Cowboys' Peyton Hendershot: Exits versus Tampa Bay

Hendershot is questionable to return to Monday's playoff game against the Buccaneers with a thigh injury, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Hendershot was deemed questionable to return midway through the first quarter, so it's likely this injury occurred early during Monday's contest. The 23-year-old tight end has logged four targets over the Cowboys' past nine games, and his absence should leave Sean McKeon to take on a bigger role behind Dalton Schultz and Jake Ferguson for the time being.

  • Cowboys' Peyton Hendershot: Gets into end zone again

Hendershot caught his only target for a 20-yard touchdown in Sunday's overtime loss to the Jaguars.

The rookie made a great catch in the second quarter despite tight coverage from Jacksonville linebacker Devin Lloyd to haul in his second receiving TD of the season, and third score overall. Hendershot has seen only three targets over the last six games with top tight end Dalton Schultz healthy, but his occasional flashes of big-play ability bode well for his NFL future.

  • Cowboys' Peyton Hendershot: Nabs rushing TD

Hendershot turned his only carry into a two-yard touchdown during Thursday's win over the Giants.

The Cowboys' tight end room had a lot to be thankful for after the game. In addition to Hendershot's score on a jet sweep in the fourth quarter, Dalton Schultz caught two touchdown passes and Jake Ferguson made highlight reels by hurdling a New York defender on a 30-yard reception. Hendershot's spot on the depth chart affords him few touches, but the rookie is on his way to becoming an effective H-back in the NFL.

  • Cowboys' Peyton Hendershot: Two grabs against Chicago

Hendershot caught both his targets for 15 yards in Sunday's win over the Bears.

Dalton Schultz appeared healthy and posted his best numbers since Week 1, but Hendershot still had a role in the offense. The rookie tight end heads into Dallas' Week 9 bye having caught exactly two passes in three straight games, including his first career TD, but his role isn't likely to expand beyond that as long as Schultz is in the lineup.

  • Cowboys' Peyton Hendershot: Hauls in first career TD

Hendershot caught both his targets for five yards and a touchdown in Sunday's win over the Lions.

The rookie tight end was wide open in the back of the end zone on a two-yard strike from Dak Prescott late in the fourth quarter, giving Hendershot his first TD in the NFL. With Dalton Schultz healthy and fellow rookie Jake Ferguson also flashing this season when he's gotten the opportunity, however, Hendershot is little more than a dart throw from a fantasy perspective, even if the Dallas passing game takes a step forward with Prescott back under center.

  • Cowboys' Peyton Hendershot: Two grabs against Eagles

Hendershot caught two of five targets for 22 yards in Sunday's loss to the Eagles.

With Dalton Schultz (knee) sidelined again, Hendershot saw a career high in targets but wasn't able to do much with them. The tight end remains behind fellow rookie Jake Ferguson in the pecking order, giving Hendershot little fantasy relevance even if Schultz isn't able to return to action Week 7 against the Lions.

  • Cowboys' Peyton Hendershot: Plays four offensive snaps in win

Hendershot failed to see a target in Sunday's 25-10 win over the Commanders.

Hendershot reverted back to his role as the Cowboys' No. 3 tight end with the return of starter Dalton Schultz after a one-game absence. Hendershot played just four offensive snaps Sunday, while Schultz was featured with 55 snaps, and Jake Ferguson was in on 17 snaps of his own. Barring injuries to either teammate, Hendershot should remain far off the fantasy radar when the Cowboys visit the Rams in Week 5.

  • Cowboys' Peyton Hendershot: Catches three passes

Hendershot caught all three of his targets for 43 yards in Monday's 23-16 win over the Giants.

With veteran Dalton Schultz (knee) sidelined, Hendershot saw an increase in his playing time Monday. The undrafted rookie tight end played on 38 of the Cowboys' 64 offensive snaps, while fellow rookie tight end Jake Ferguson was on the field for 53 snaps. Despite being the No. 2 option at the position, it was Hendershot who did more with his limited opportunities, gaining 43 yards to Ferguson's 13 yards. There's a chance Schultz will return in Week 4, which would all but eliminate the insignificant fantasy potential that Hendershot has in the Cowboys' offense. If the veteran can't go, Hendershot would be extremely difficult to trust for relevant fantasy production in a Week 4 matchup against the Commanders.

  • Cowboys' Peyton Hendershot: Hauls in TD against Seahawks

Hendershot caught three of seven targets for 39 yards and a touchdown in Friday's preseason game against Seattle.

The undrafted rookie tight end out of Indiana wound up playing hero in this one, catching a pass in the flat from Ben DiNucci in the fourth quarter and breaking multiple tackles to get into the end zone for what proved to be the winning score. Hendershot has acquitted himself fairly well in camp and the preseason, but his chances of making the 53-man roster could depend on the health of Sean McKeon (ankle), with Dalton Schultz and 2022 fourth-round pick Jake Ferguson locked into spots.
