Hendershot (ankle) had surgery after the Cowboys' season ended, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports.
The depth tight end should be available once the team's offseason program begins in the spring, per Archer. Hendershot caught four passes for 38 yards and no touchdowns in eight games this season.

Hendershot (foot) caught four of seven targets for 38 yards in eight regular-season games in 2023.
The second-year tight end had trouble staying healthy, and Hendershot's usage as a receiver declined even when he was in the lineup as Jake Ferguson had a breakout season. With Luke Schoonmaker likely to take on a bigger role in 2024 as well, there don't figure to be many snaps or targets left over for Hendershot next season.

Cowboys' Peyton Hendershot: Returns to 53-man roster
Hendershot (ankle) rejoined the active roster Wednesday, Clarence E. Hill Jr. of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
Hendershot was designated to return from IR on Nov. 15, so his 21-day window to practice with the team was up. If he wasn't placed back on the 53-man roster Wednesday, he would have been forced back on injured reserve and missed the remainder of the season. However, the Indiana product has been logging full practices the last three weeks and should be good to go Sunday against the Eagles.

Cowboys' Peyton Hendershot: Won't play vs. Seahawks
Dallas did not activate Hendershot (ankle) from its injured reserve list for Thursday's game versus the Seahawks, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.

Hendershot spent the minimum of four weeks on injured reserve before being designated to return. The Indiana product told Gehlken that he feels fresh, although he's not sure if he'll be able to return Sunday against the Panthers, so despite his full participation in practice, he should be considered questionable for the game.
