  • Chris Rowland: Released from practice squad

Rowland was released from the Titans' practice squad Tuesday, Jim Wyatt of the team's official site reports. Rowland was let go after spending almost two weeks on the practice squad, failing to crack the active roster after being signed Nov. 10. The wide receiver was replaced by Austin Mack, who was signed Tuesday. He will likely end up on another practice squad at some point.

Rowland was signed to the Titans' practice squad Wednesday, Jim Wyatt of the team's official site reports. Rowland was let go by the Falcons at the end of August and appeared in two games last year. He's still looking for his first NFL reception but did see some action as a kick returner.

  • Chris Rowland: Let go by Falcons

Rowland was waived by the Falcons on Monday, Michael Rothstein of ESPN.com reports. Rowland needed to secure the punt-returner job to earn a spot on the 53-man roster. However, Avery Williams won the gig, so Rowland will likely land on the practice squad.

  • Falcons' Chris Rowland: Puts pen to paper

The Falcons signed Rowland to a reserve/future contract Monday, Will McFadden of the team's official site reports. An undrafted rookie out of Tennessee State, Rowland played in each of the Falcons' final two games in 2020. The 23-year-old contributed as a kick returner but didn't receive any offensive tread. Rowland will vie for a full-time role in 2021.

Rowland reverted to the Falcons' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's official transaction log. Rowland got involved with eight snaps on special teams during Sunday's road loss to the Chiefs, securing a fair catch in the first quarter. • Falcons' Chris Rowland: Rises from practice squad

The Falcons elevated Rowland to the active roster Saturday. Rowland will add depth at wide receiver because Julio Jones (hamstring) has been ruled out and Brandon Powell (foot) is considered questionable. The 23-year-old posted a 104-1,437-8 line in his senior season at Tennessee State. An undrafted rookie, Rowland could make his NFL debut Sunday against the Chiefs.

  • Chris Rowland: Heads to practice squad

Rowland signed a deal to join the Falcons' practice squad Sunday, Vaughn McClure of ESPN.com reports. Rowland's training camp efforts fell short of a spot on the 53-man roster, but he will have an opportunity to further prove himself to Falcons coaches in practice. Brandon Powell ended up winning the kick returner job during camp, while the Falcons will lean on Olamide Zaccheaus as both the No. 4 receiver and possibly the No. 2 returner option behind Powell. The Tennessee State standout provides depth should one of those players suffer an injury or struggle with on-field performance.

  • Chris Rowland: Falls short of roster spot

Rowland did not make the Falcons' 53-man roster, Vaughn McClure of ESPN.com reports. During a typical offseason, an undrafted free agent like Rowland would have the opportunity to prove himself in preseason competition. Devoid of inter-squad contests leading up to Week 1, however, Atlanta decided against signing a single undrafted rookie to the active roster. The Falcons elected to go with the experience of Brandon Powell at kick returner, but Rowland still may be presented an opportunity to develop his skill set as a member of Atlanta's 16-man practice squad.

  • Chris Rowland: Joining Falcons

Rowland has reportedly agreed to terms with the Falcons as an undrafted free agent, per Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle. Rowland will reportedly receive $80,000 guaranteed in the deal. He was named first-team All-Ohio Valley Conference and offensive player of the year for FCS-level Tennessee State last season. Rowland had 104 catches for 1,437 yards and eight touchdowns, but his work in the return game (355 yards on kick returns, 166 yards on punt returns and two touchdowns) are likely his best path toward earning a roster spot.
