Dillon Stoner: Deal with Las Vegas closes out
Stoner's (undisclosed) practice-squad contract with the Raiders expired Monday, per the NFL's transaction log.
Stoner joined Las Vegas as an undrafted free agent ahead of the 2021 season, serving as a core special-teamer across six games during his rookie season. The wideout then signed with the team's practice squad after this preseason, and he finished out the season on the injured list after popping up with an undisclosed issue Sept. 15. It's unclear what injury kept Stoner sidelined for so long, but he'll now likely look to ink a reserve/future contract at some point before the end of the 2022 season.

Stoner will now be forced to sit out at least the next four weeks while dealing with an unspecified injury, though his ultimate timeline for a return is still unclear. He'll restore some much-needed depth to a Las Vegas receiver room that currently includes only Hunter Renfrow, Bryan Edwards and Zay Jones. Stoner, an undrafted rookie out of Oklahoma State, signed with the Raiders in May but failed to make the cut coming out of the preseason. He made enough of an impression during training camp and the exhibition slate to earn a spot on the Raiders' practice squad, but he's unlikely to have a key role in the passing attack even if he's active for Sunday's game against the Giants.

Stoner could make a splash in the return game for Las Vegas, or at least get the opportunity to work in such a role this offseason. In the regular-season finale of his final year at Oklahoma State, Stoner flashed big-play ability, dropping 247 yards and three touchdowns on Baylor.
