Clark (neck) announced his retirement Wednesday for reasons related to injury, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
Clark, a 2020 fourth-round pick, missed the entire 2021 season due to a spinal injury suffered during training camp. After consulting with doctors, Clark was recommended to end his career due to the risk of paralysis that would be presented by playing. Clark will conclude his career without ever having played a snap, as he spent the 2020 campaign on injured reserve due to a shoulder issue.

Clark excited an early training camp practice in an ambulance after suffering a spinal cord contusion. While the injury was gruesome, the 23-year-old was able to display some movement in his extremities, and coach Robert Saleh is optimistic that he will make a full recovery.

Clark (illness) was a full participant during the Jets' practice session Thursday.
Clark was ruled out ahead of Sunday's road trip to Arrowhead Stadium because of an illness after being made active for his first NFL game the week prior against Buffalo. The fourth-round rookie from Charlotte will contribute depth to the offensive tackle spot if he's able to go for a Week 9 Monday night matchup against the Patriots.
