Trautman caught his only target for 18 yards during Sunday's 10-7 defeat against Carolina.
This final stat line is an accurate representation of the 25-year-old's limited role this season. On 503 offensive snaps over 15 games, Trautman posted 18 catches on 22 targets for 207 yards and a touchdown. This was a marked step down from his role during the 2021 season, when he recorded 43 targets on 615 offensive plays in 13 games. The 2020 third-round pick also never saw more than three targets in any game during the 2022 campaign, as he was consistently overshadowed by Juwan Johnson. Trautman's lack of production, despite the Saints' injury woes at wide receiver, does not bode well for his fantasy relevance heading into the 2023 season.

Saints' Adam Trautman: First catch in four weeks
Trautman caught his only target for 16 yards during Sunday's 20-10 victory versus Philadelphia.
Trautman logged his first reception and just his second target since a Week 13 loss to Tampa Bay. The tight end finished as one of five Saints players to haul in their lone target behind the team's clear-cut top receiving trio of Rashid Shaheed, Chris Olave and Juwan Johnson. Trautman's primary role as a run blocker has only been reinforced by Johnson's continued production in the passing game over the second half of the season. Barring injuries or a plan to rest starters in Week 18 with the playoffs now out of reach, expect the Saints to continue feeding the ball to receivers other than Trautman.

Trautman practiced in limited fashion throughout the week and will now suit up for Saturday's frigid interconference clash. The Saints list Trautman (ankle) as questionable for Saturday's game at Cleveland, Terrin Waack of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
Trautman was listed as a limited participant on practice reports issued Tuesday through Thursday, with his lack of full participation presumably standing in the way of him entering the weekend minus an injury designation. If he ends up active for the Week 16 contest, Trautman will be the Saints' No. 2 option at tight end behind Juwan Johnson, but there could be an uptick in targets headed in both players' direction while New Orleans is without two of its starting receivers in Chris Olave (hamstring) and Jarvis Landry (ankle).

Limited for a second straight day, Trautman should be able to play Saturday in Cleveland after playing through the same injury last week and handling 65 percent of the offensive snaps in a 21-18 win over the Falcons. Trautman dealt with the same injury last week and took a questionable tag into Sunday's game against the Falcons before gaining clearance ahead of kickoff. Though he took on a normal snap share (65 percent), Trautman drew just one target on the afternoon, while position mate Juwan Johnson (four catches for 67 yards and two touchdowns on six targets) commanded more attention from quarterback Andy Dalton despite playing eight fewer snaps than Trautman. Assuming Trautman is able to play through the ankle issue again this weekend in Cleveland, expect him to once again see most of his work as a blocker while Johnson serves as the Saints' preferred pass-catching tight end.

Trautman returned to his limited role as a receiver as Juwan Johnson led the Saints in targets (six), receptions (four) and receiving touchdowns (two) in his return from a one-game absence due to an ankle injury. While Trautman's 36 offensive snaps still topped Johnson's 28, it's clear that New Orleans prefers the latter in a pass-catching role. Trautman's chances to play against Atlanta in Week 15 will come into focus based on what he's able to do at practices Thursday and Friday, though he might see his target upside reduce if fellow tight end Juwan Johnson (ankle) can return after logging a limited practice Wednesday.

Trautman notched two receptions on three targets for 28 yards during Monday's 17-16 loss to the Buccaneers.
Trautman played a season-high 80 percent of the Saints' offensive snaps with Juwan Johnson (ankle) ruled out. Practice squad tight end Lucas Krull only saw action on 11 of the team's 59 offensive snaps while Taysom Hill continued to slot into a multi-purpose role as a rusher, passer and receiver. However, Trautman did not see a corresponding increase in production. With the Saints heading into a Week 14 bye, Johnson will get extra time to recover and could be back atop the depth chart for the team's next game against Atlanta on Sunday, Dec. 18.
