  • Jaguars' Tyrell Adams: Signs with Jacksonville

The Jaguars signed Adams to their active roster from the 49ers' practice squad Wednesday. The Jaguars currently have eight linebackers away from the team due to COVID-19 protocols, so Adams will provide insurance in case any of them are ruled out for Week 17. The 29-year-old linebacker made five appearances for San Francisco this season, playing nearly exclusively on special teams.

  • Texans' Tyrell Adams: Well positioned for free agency

Adams will become an unrestricted free agent during the offseason. Adams, in his third year in a Texans uniform, exploded in 2020 when he took over at inside linebacker following Benardrick McKinney's season-ending shoulder injury in Week 4. Adams recorded double-digit tackles in six of 12 starts and finished with 125 tackles, second only to Zach Cunningham. The 28-year-old significantly enhanced his marketability, although there is not a long track record. Prior to 2020, Adams appeared in 21 games over four NFL seasons.

  • Texans' Tyrell Adams: Records sack in loss

Adams made seven tackles and had one sack in Sunday's 36-7 loss to the Bears. Adams had a two-game streak of double-digit tackles broken but was able to record his second sack of the season. Since taking over for Benardrick McKinney nine games ago, Adams has averaged 10.3 stops per game.

  • Texans' Tyrell Adams: Second-leading tackler in loss

Adams collected seven total tackles during Sunday's 10-7 loss to Cleveland. In what was by far Houston's lowest-scoring affair of the 2020 campaign, the Browns punished the Texans front to the tune of 231 rushing yards and one rushing score on 41 team carries. Adams reached seven or more tackles for the fifth consecutive outing, registering yet another start in place of the injured Benardrick McKinney (shoulder). With McKinney already ruled out for the remainder of the 2020 campaign, expect Adams to continue racking up respectable tackle totals as a fill-in for the Texans' front seven.

  • Texans' Tyrell Adams: Hits free agency after modest 2019

Adams appeared in five regular-season games for the Texans in 2019, recording 13 tackles and forcing one fumble. The 27-year-old opened the season on the practice squad before being added to the active roster at the end of the September. He was a healthy inactive until late in the season, when injuries hit the Texans' linebacking corps. Adams, who also appeared in both of the team's playoff games, will become an unrestricted free agent in March.

  • Texans' Tyrell Adams: Inactive against Ravens

Adams (coach's decision) is inactive for Week 11. Adams' role likely would have been restricted to special teams if he suited up, so his absence should not negatively impact Houston's defensive performance. Benardrick McKinney, per usual, figures to get the starting nod at middle linebacker.

  • Raiders' Tyrell Adams: Notches first seven tackles of career

Adams accounted for seven tackles (four solo) during the Raiders' win over the Titans on Sunday. Entering Sunday's 2017 regular-season opener, Adams had never recorded a single tackle during his NFL career after appearing in six games with the Raiders in 2016. That all changed against the Titans, as he finished with the third-most tackles for Oakland despite coming off the bench. Adams was on the field for 64 percent of the team's defensive snaps, while starting middle linebacker Marquel Lee appeared for 33 percent.
