Terron Ward: Becomes a free agent
Ward was not tendered a qualifying offer from Atlanta and became a free agent Wednesday, D. Orlando Ledbetter of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Ward didn't receive substantial playing time during his three seasons in the crowded Falcons' backfield, but the undrafted back out of Oregon State was a gritty performer during his tenure in Atlanta. He accumulated only 90 carries between 2015 and 2017 but performed reasonably well with limited opportunity, averaging 4.2 yards per carry and fumbling only once.

Falcons' Terron Ward: Doesn't see action in playoff loss
Ward didn't earn a carry or a target as the Falcons fell to the Eagles, 15-10, in the divisional round Saturday.
Simply put, when Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman are healthy, Ward has a difficult time finding playing time, let alone getting carries or targets. Ward will be an unrestricted free agent in the offseason, and it seems likely he'll gravitate toward a less-crowded backfield, but that doesn't mean he's guaranteed touches or even a roster spot in 2018.

Falcons' Terron Ward: Carries eight times in win
Ward rushed eight times for 40 yards in Monday's 24-21 win over Tampa Bay.
Ward also caught one pass for six yards on the evening. His increased workload was a direct result of Tevin Coleman being sidelined with a concussion, while Devonta Freeman still got the lion's share of work with 22 carries and five receptions. Ward would be in line for a similar workload if Coleman misses more time.

Falcons' Terron Ward: Totals 32 yards against Bucs
Ward rushed for 35 yards on seven carries and lost three yards on a catch during Sunday's 34-20 win over Tampa Bay. He lost a fumble during the contest.
Ward saw 20 offensive snaps on Sunday with Devonta Freeman (concussion) out of the lineup. It was also the third straight game of at least seven touches after no touches for the first six games of the year. The way Ward's season began is worth keeping note of, along with Freeman's health. An Atlanta backfield with a healthy Freeman and Tevin Coleman has little room for Ward.

Ward (knee) was absent from the Falcons' injury report and is in line to play Monday against the Seahawks, Vaughn McClure of ESPN.com reports.
Ward was limited in practice Thursday due to a knee injury but will take the field Monday night. Devonta Freeman (concussion) has been ruled out of the contest, which will make Tevin Coleman the lead back and Ward the No. 2 option. As long as he remains healthy, Ward seems likely to see increased action Monday night given the Falcons' dual-back playing style.

Falcons' Terron Ward: Limited Thursday
Ward was limited in practice Thursday due to a knee injury, D. Orlando Ledbetter of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
The Falcons are already bracing for one game without starting running back Devonta Freeman, who is contending with a concussion and didn't participate in Thursday's session. To make matters worse, the backfield has been dealt another hit with Ward's knee injury. Ward's ability to practice in some capacity helps his cause, but Tevin Coleman would be poised for an even larger workload than what's already expected Monday against the Seahawks if Ward is unable to ditch the injury in time for the game. Ultimately, Ward has two more practices to change the narrative, so he could serve as a change-of-pace option to Coleman if he proves healthy.

Falcons' Terron Ward: Rushes nine times
Ward carried the ball nine times for 23 yards during Sunday's 27-7 win over the Cowboys.
They were the first carries of the season for Ward, who may find more work should Devonta Freeman (concussion) miss Week 11 or more. Perhaps Ward could be a desperation pickup in deeper leagues, but seven of Ward's nine carries Sunday came in the fourth quarter with the Falcons up multiple scores, so he'd still probably reside far behind Tevin Coleman for backfield work.

Ward (neck/shoulder) was a full participant at the Falcons' practice Wednesday, Vaughn McClure of ESPN.com reports.
Ward has been sidelined since mid-September with the neck and shoulder issues but finally appears to be in the clear. Assuming the 25-year-old suffers no setbacks the rest of the week, he should resume his role as a depth backfield option behind Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman.

Falcons' Terron Ward: Heavy workload again Saturday
Ward rushed 10 times for 28 yards and brought in four of five targets for 24 yards in Saturday's 24-14 preseason loss to the Cardinals.
Ward seemingly maintained his lead for the third running back spot over speedy rookie Brian Hill, who managed just 17 yards on 10 carries and notched one reception before exiting the game with an undisclosed injury. Ward was serviceable last season in limited opportunity, averaging 4.9 yards per carry on his 31 totes. While the three-year veteran may enter the season as the primary backup to Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman, he'll need to continue performing to keep the talented Hill, once healthy, from overtaking him.

Falcons' Terron Ward: Scores against Steelers
Ward rushed for 37 yards and a touchdown on nine carries and added a two-yard catch during Sunday's preseason loss to the Steelers.
Ward capped Atlanta's opening drive with a touchdown, the second of his preseason. Overshadowed in his career by the duo of Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman, Ward was able to shine a bit on Sunday with Freeman recovering from a concussion and Coleman seeing limited reps. Ward looked good in limited opportunities last year as well, but with just so many carries to go around and the reigning MVP throwing passes, look for Ward's preseason carriage to turn into a pumpkin come September, barring injuries up top.

Falcons' Terron Ward: Finds end zone in preseason opener
Ward carried 11 times for 48 yards and a touchdown in Thursday's 23-20 preseason loss to the Dolphins. He added 16 yards while securing all three of his targets.
Ward enjoyed an effective preseason opener, leading the team in carries and yards while scoring their lone rushing touchdown of the night. He was also utilized in the passing game, finishing tied for second in targets. Ward was effective in limited duty last season -- he averaged 4.9 yards per carry on 31 totes -- but he still has Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman to contend with as he vies for more involvement in 2017.
