  • Cowboys' Ryan Nall: Moved to IR

Nall (shoulder) was placed on the Cowboys' injured reserve Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of ProFootballNetwork.com reports. Nall will go on season-ending IR after he picked up a shoulder contusion during practice earlier this month. As a result, the fullback will need to secure an injury settlement with Dallas if he wants to attempt a return to the field elsewhere in 2022.

  • Cowboys' Ryan Nall: Injures shoulder

Nall suffered a deep shoulder contusion during practice this week and is expected to miss up to four weeks, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports. Nall signed a deal with the Cowboys in April after spending the previous three seasons with the Bears. He's the only fullback currently on the roster, so guard Connor McGovern has stepped into the role during practice.

  • Cowboys' Ryan Nall: Inks deal with Dallas

Nall signed a contract with the Cowboys on Friday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Nall averaged five touches per season over his previous three years with Chicago. He figures to be a depth option behind Ezekiel Elliott and Tony Pollard heading into the 2022 campaign.

  • Bears' Ryan Nall: Doesn't suit up in Week 18

Nall was inactive for the Bears' 31-17 Week 18 loss to the Vikings, and he ended the season with one rush for four yards and a four-yard reception. Nall has averaged five touches per season over his three years with the Bears, and it's most likely he continues to serve as a depth option for Chicago or another NFL team going forward, as he'll be a restricted free agent this offseason. Unless his role drastically increases, his fantasy value will be minimal.

  • Bears' Ryan Nall: Activated off COVID-19 list

Nall was activated off the reserve/COVID-19 list Monday, Larry Mayer of the Bears' official site reports. Nall was one of five Chicago players to be removed from the league's health and safety protocols Monday. When David Montgomery, Khalil Herbert and Damien Williams have all been healthy, Nall has operated exclusively on special teams, so his return shouldn't impact the Bears' offensive gameplan.

  • Bears' Ryan Nall: Not available Week 15

Nall will remain on the reserve/COVID-19 list and won't be available for Monday's game against the Vikings, Larry Mayer of the Bears' official site reports. The reserve running back is one of 14 members of the Bears roster or practice squad who won't suit up Monday after being placed on the list in recent days. He had played exclusively on special teams in each of the past three contests, so Nall's absence shouldn't affect Chicago's game plan on offense.

  • Bears' Ryan Nall: Put on COVID-19 list

Nall (undisclosed) was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list Thursday. The 25-year-old will now likely miss Monday's game against the Vikings, though it won't leave much of a hole in the Bears' backfield as he hasn't played an offensive snap since Week 9. David Montgomery (illness) will continue to handle the lion's share of touches at running back, with Damien Williams and Khalil Herbert in line to back him up.

  • Bears' Ryan Nall: Active against Green Bay

Nall (ankle) is active for Sunday's game against the Packers. Nall logged full practices Thursday and Friday, and while he was questionable in the final injury report, he will suit up in this divisional matchup. He has played just three offensive snaps this season, but he should operate as the backup to rookie Khalil Herbert considering the Bears are quite thin when it comes to their depth at running back.

  • Bears' Ryan Nall: Questionable after full practice

Nall (ankle) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Packers, despite logging full practices Thursday and Friday. Nall's practice participation suggests he'll likely suit up, which is a relief for a Bears team that could be without Damien Williams, who's on the reserve/COVID-19 list, in addition to David Montgomery (IR/knee). If Williams sits Sunday, Nall likely will work as the backup to rookie Khalil Herbert in the banged-up Bears backfield.

  • Bears' Ryan Nall: Signed to active roster

The Bears signed Nall to the active roster from the practice squad Monday, Colleen Kane of the Chicago Tribune reports. Nall was elevated for Sunday's win over the Raiders, as a result of David Montgomery (knee) being sidelined, but he didn't handle any offensive touches. He stands to handle a similar depth role behind Damien Williams and Khalil Herbert heading into a Week 6 divisional matchup against Green Bay.

  • Ryan Nall: Reverts back to practice squad

Nall reverted back to the Bears' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log. Nall was elevated to the active roster with David Montgomery (knee) sidelined. The 25-year-old only played only three offensive snaps and didn't record any stats during Sunday's contest against the Raiders.

  • Ryan Nall: Jettisoned by Chicago

The Bears cut Nall on Tuesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. Nall's spot on the roster was rendered superfluous with rookie Khalil Herbert having locked up the No. 4 role. He appeared in all 16 games in 2020, but contributed almost entirely on special teams in that span.

  • Bears' Ryan Nall: Receives one carry

Nall rushed one time for two yards in the Bears' 27-24 preseason win over the Titans on Saturday. After carrying the ball five times in his first two seasons with the Bears, Nall isn't a lock for the regular-season roster, and a spot could be between him and Artavis Pierce while Tarik Cohen remains on the PUP list.

  • Bears' Ryan Nall: Nursing chest injury

Nall (chest) is not practicing Monday, Larry Mayer of the Bears' official site reports. Nall put up 43 rushing yards on three carries during Saturday's exhibition matchup against the Dolphins, though he worked behind all of David Montgomery (undisclosed), Khalil Herbert and Damien Williams. Tarik Cohen (knee) will also operate ahead of Nall once healthy enough to come off the PUP list, so the 25-year-old is facing strong competition to earn a spot on the 53-man roster.

  • Bears' Ryan Nall: Retained by Chicago

The Bears re-signed Nall on Wednesday. Nall entered the offseason as an exclusive rights free agent, so it doesn't come as much of a surprise to see him sticking with the Bears. He mostly saw action on special teams in 2020, only logging three carries across 16 regular-season games.

  • Bears' Ryan Nall: Sees limited work in 2020

Nall did not receive an offensive touch in the Bears' 35-16 loss to the Packers on Sunday. Nall was mostly used on special teams, though he did rush eight times for 67 yards and a touchdown on the season. After the Bears conclude their playoff run, he'll become an exclusive-rights free agent, and even if the team retains him, he'll have an uphill climb to become a consistent fantasy option.

  • Bears' Ryan Nall: Receives no offensive looks

Nall did not garner a rush attempt or a target over two offensive snaps, but did field 17 special-teams snaps during Sunday's 33-27 win against the Vikings. The Oregon State product got involved with seven receptions for 65 yards and a touchdown Weeks 8 through 12, but he hasn't gained any traction as a rusher all season. Nall has just one carry to his name in 2020. Meanwhile, David Montgomery continues to dominate the RB workload for Chicago, gaining 162 scrimmage yards with two touchdowns on 33 touches during Week 15.

  • Bears' Ryan Nall: Targeted once in defeat

Nall caught one pass for 10 yards in the Bears' 41-25 loss to the Packers on Sunday. Nall was a nonfactor in the game until entering late in the fourth quarter, when he caught his only target. Unless he gains a more prominent role in the offense, his fantasy value will remain minimal.

  • Bears' Ryan Nall: Again goes un-utilized on offense

Nall garnered one offensive snap, but he did not receive a carry or a target during Sunday's 19-11 loss to the Colts. Despite being listed as the No. 2 option on Chicago's RB depth chart, Nall has only been granted a total of 12 offensive snaps through Week 4 of 2020. He remains with one offensive touch on the season, a two-yard reception, as the Bears instead elected to lean on receivers Cordarrelle Patterson (three carries) and Darnell Mooney (one carry) as rushing alternatives behind starting back David Montgomery during Sunday's loss.

  • Bears' Ryan Nall: No offensive reps Week 3

Nall did not receive a rush attempt or target during Sunday's 30-26 win against the Falcons. The 24-year-old back got involved offensively for the first time in 2020 with a two-yard catch Week 2 against the Giants, but in Week 3 against Atlanta, it was Tarik Cohen (knee-ACL) and Cordarrelle Patterson who were entrusted with carries behind starting RB David Montgomery. Though classified as a receiver, Patterson has actually garnered far more rush attempts (15) than targets (three) this season, but Nall may see a slight uptick in running-game usage himself so long as Chicago does not elect to sign another back.
