  • Jets' Derrick Nnadi: Heading to East Coast

Nnadi is signing with the Jets, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports. Nnadi has been incredibly durable so far in his career, playing in all 17 regular-season games each of the past four seasons and missing just one contest overall during seven campaigns with the Chiefs. However, he saw a reduced role last year, logging career-low marks with 215 defensive snaps and 11 tackles. With his move to the Jets, Nnadi should have an opportunity to receive more work, though he could compete with fellow new signee Byron Cowart to start next to Quinnen Williams (hamstring) at defensive tackle.

  • Chiefs' Derrick Nnadi: Activated off PUP list

The Chiefs activated Nnadi (triceps) from the active/PUP list Tuesday, Matt McMullen of the team's official site reports. Nnadi was placed on the PUP list at the start of training camp due to a triceps injury he sustained in the Chiefs' wild-card win over the Dolphins. The 2018 third-round pick out of Florida State played in all 17 regular-season games in 2023, finishing with 29 tackles (16 solo), including 1.0 sacks, and one pass defended. Now that he's healthy, Nnadi will look to get in reps with the first-team defense alongside fellow pass rushers George Karlaftis, Mike Danna and Chris Jones (shoulder).

  • Chiefs' Derrick Nnadi: Placed on PUP list

The Chiefs placed Nnadi (tricep) on the active/PUP list Wednesday. Nnadi suffered a left tricep injury during Kansas City's wild-card win over the Dolphins after suiting up for all 17 of the team's regular-season games, and he was sidelined during OTAs. The defensive tackle can be activated from the PUP list at any point throughout training camp, though at this time, it's unclear whether he'll be available for the Chiefs' preseason opener against Jacksonville on Aug. 10.

  • Chiefs' Derrick Nnadi: Won't return Sunday

Nnadi (triceps) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's AFC Championship Game against the Ravens. The 27-year-old was unable to practice all week, and he's now in line to miss his second consecutive game with this triceps issue. Nnadi is one of the Chiefs' best run defenders, and without him, Kansas City's defensive line could struggle to stop a Baltimore rushing attack that's averaging almost 154 rushing yards per game across 18 outings. Expect Neil Farrell and Tershawn Wharton to see increased reps at defensive tackle in Nnadi's stead.

  • Chiefs' Derrick Nnadi: Stays with Chiefs

Nnadi agreed to a contract with Kansas City on Sunday, Pete Sweeney of ArrowheadPride.com reports. The contract details are not yet known, but he'll remain with the team that selected him in the third round of the 2018 Draft. Nnadi is coming off a 2021 campaign in which he played all 17 regular-season games, recording 38 tackles (21 solo) and a career-high three sacks.

  • Chiefs' Derrick Nnadi: injures hip in practice

Coach Andy Reid said Nnadi was dealing with a hip flexor ailment Thursday, Herbie Teope of The Kansas City Star reports. Nnadi played in 15 games last year, recording 47 tackles before a knee injury prevented him from hitting the field for the last game of the regular season. Minor hip flexor injuries tend to take one to three weeks to recover from, so Kansas City will likely take things slow with the fourth-year defensive tackle just to make sure he's ready to go for Week 1.

  • Chiefs' Derrick Nnadi: Grabs first career interception

Nnadi recorded one assisted tackle and an interception in Monday night's win over the Chargers. The play was more of a sack-fumble, but the ball fell from Philip Rivers' hand directly into Nnadi's and was ruled an interception. The 23-year-old is up to 38 tackles (15 solo) on the year.
