  • Chargers' Travis Coons: Waived by Chargers

Coons was waived by the Chargers on Monday.

Coons made seven of eight field-goal attempts and five of six extra-point tries, but the Chargers believe they have a better option in the form of Nick Rose, who converted 10 of 11 field goals while filling in for an injured Dustin Hopkins with the Redskins the past couple months. Rose will be a playable fantasy option in a favorable Week 16 matchup with the Jets.

  • Chargers' Travis Coons: Misses an extra point in loss

Coons did not attempt a field goal, and missed one of his two extra-point tries in the 30-13 loss to the Chiefs on Saturday.

The Chargers offense was flummoxed throughout most of Saturday, relegating Coons to an afterthought in fantasy. Since joining the Chargers in Week 12 in replace of Nick Novak, Coons has made seven out of eight field goals, and knocked in five of his six extra-point attempts.

  • Chargers' Travis Coons: Notches 12 points

Coons made field goals from 33, 21 and 36 yards and also converted all three of his extra-point tries in Sunday's 30-13 win over the Redskins.

Coons has been a revelation in two games with the Chargers, as he's now racked up 25 points in that short span. He'll hope to keep the points coming in Arrowhead Stadium's hostile environment this Saturday.

  • Chargers' Travis Coons: Knocks in four field goals

Coons made four of his five field-goal attempts (21, 40, 22 and 27 yards) and also connected on his lone extra-point try in the 19-10 win over the Browns on Sunday.

With Nick Novak sidelined due to a back injury, Coons came up big against his former team Sunday. While the 25-year-old did miss his first kick, a 38-yarder that hit the right upright, Coons was able to rally by knocking in his next four attempts. So long as Novak remains out, the second-year pro has plenty of value kicking for an explosive Chargers team that has scored 101 points combined in the last three weeks.

  • Chargers' Travis Coons: Promoted to active roster

The Chargers promoted Coons to their 53-man roster Saturday, putting him in line to serve as the team's kicker for at least Sunday's game against the Browns, Jeremy Bergman of NFL.com reports.

Coons will be the third kicker to play for the Chargers this season. Regular kicker Nick Novak (back) is officially listed as questionable for Sunday, but it looks like he's not ready to play given Coons' promotion. If Novak's back issues prove to be more of a long-term concern, Coons could handle kicking duties in future contests should he impress Sunday. The 25-year-old went 28-for-32 on field-goal attempts and missed two extra points in 2015 as the kicker for the Browns.

  • Travis Coons: Joins Chargers' practice squad

The Chargers will sign Coons to their practice squad Wednesday, according to the kicker's agent, Brett Tessler.

The transaction leaves Coons first in line to assume kicking duties for the Bolts in the event Nick Novak (back) is unable to play Sunday against the Browns. Per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Chargers remain optimistic that Novak will be able to play Week 13 barring any setbacks during practice, so Coons won't be promoted to the 53-man roster unless Novak's condition doesn't improve as anticipated. Coons last appeared in the NFL in 2015, serving as Cleveland's kicker for all 16 of their games and converting 28 of 32 field-goal tries and 22 of 24 extra-point attempts.

  • Travis Coons: Re-signs with Rams

The Rams have re-signed Coons, Adam Caplan of ESPN reports.

Coons was let go by the Rams on Monday in order to clear a roster spot for Hall of Fame running back Eric Dickerson. It was just a one-day contract so Dickerson could officially retire with the team. Coons does not figure to have a chance at making the final roster, as Greg Zuerlein has a strong hold on the position.

Coons was picked up by the Rams earlier in camp in order to help push kicker Greg Zuerlein. The 25-year-old never figured to have an actual chance at landing the role.

  • Rams' Travis Coons: Heads west

Coons signed with the Rams on Thursday, Mark Bodenrader of the team's official site reports.

Coons played in Cleveland in 2015 -- making 28 of 32 field goals and 22 of 24 extra points -- and was out of the league altogether last season. He's likely in camp to serve as nominal competition for five-year starter Greg Zuerlein, as well as to preserve the latter's leg in practices and preseason games. Consider Coons a long shot to make the roster.
