Dolphins' Shaquil Barrett: Finds new home
Barrett signed a one-year contract, which could be worth up to $9 million, with the Dolphins on Tuesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Barrett was released by the Buccaneers on Feb. 27, but he'll have the opportunity to continue his career at a different Florida residence. The 31-year-old bounced back from an Achilles tear suffered in 2022 to have a solid 2023 campaign, appearing in 16 regular-season games, recording 52 tackles (33 solo), including 4.5 sacks, a pick-six and three forced fumbles along the way. He should be a regular in the Dolphins' linebacker corps in 2024.

Buccaneers' Shaquil Barrett: On way out of Tampa
Barrett is expected to be released by the Buccaneers before his $15 million option bonus is due next month, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Barrett appeared in 16 regular-season games during the 2023 campaign, after missing much of the 2022 season due to an Achilles tear. The veteran linebacker recorded 52 tackles (33 solo), including 4.5 sacks, a pick-six, a pass defended and three forced fumbles last season, and showed he could still be a contributor, even if his Pro Bowl days may be behind him.

Buccaneers' Shaquil Barrett: Returns to health in '23
Barrett recorded 52 tackles (33 solo), including 4.5 sacks, a pick-six, an additional pass defensed and three forced fumbles across 16 regular-season games in 2023. He did not record any stats over 88 snaps across two postseason contests.
Barrett's disappearing act in the playoffs notwithstanding, the veteran linebacker did enjoy an encouraging season after an Achilles tear limited him to eight games in 2022. Barrett's sack total was down compared to his other prior healthy seasons in Tampa Bay, but he continued to display a knack for forcing turnovers and once again delivered tackle numbers in line with his career standards. Barrett is now slated to play out the final season of the four-year, $68 million contract he signed prior to the 2021 campaign.

Buccaneers' Shaquil Barrett: Good to go Sunday
Barrett (ankle) is active for Sunday's divisional-round game against the Lions.
Barrett popped up with an ankle injury following Tampa Bay's win over the Eagles on Monday, and he was a non-participant during practice Wednesday. He was then listed as questionable on Friday's final injury report, and he'll be available for Sunday's playoff contest. Barrett should continue to line up opposite rookie outside linebacker YaYa Diaby, and these two will play vital roles as the Buccaneers' pass rush seeks to slow down Detroit's potent passing offense.

Buccaneers' Shaquil Barrett: Questionable to face Lions
Barrett (ankle) returned to practice Friday and will be listed as questionable for Sunday's game in Detroit, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.
Barrett took 75 percent of snap on defense in Monday's win over the Eagles, and a return to practice at the end of the week has him on track to start again this Sunday in Detroit. The 31-year-old had only 4.5 sacks and nine QB hits in 16 regular-season games this year, perhaps losing a step after suffering an Achilles' tear in 2022.

Buccaneers' Shaquil Barrett: Misses practice Wednesday
Barrett (ankle) was listed as a nonparticipant on Wednesday's estimated practice report.
The Bucs merely held a walkthrough after taking down the Eagles in the wild-card round less than 48 hours ago. The veteran edge rusher previously missed Week 17 with a groin injury. Barrett logged his second-highest snap share of the season (75 percent) in the win over Philly.

Barrett was unable to play in Tampa Bay's Week 17 loss to the Saints, but he appears to be set to play Week 18 against the Panthers. His ability to take the field would be a boost to the Bucs as they work to try and clinch the NFC South with a win.

Barrett (groin) will have a chance to suit up Sunday against the Panthers, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.
Barrett missed his first game of the season in Week 17 against the Saints, but according to Auman, the Colorado State product is trending in the right direction to play in Week 18. Considering a win against Carolina will be needed to lock up the NFC South division, and in turn, a playoff berth, the return of Barret would be good news for the Buccaneers' defense.
