Orleans Darkwa: Working out for Browns
Darkwa worked out for the Browns on Monday, Jordan Raanan of ESPN reports.
Darkwa missed all of last season with an Achilles injury but has made a full recovery. The Browns already have six running backs on the roster, including Kareem Hunt, who is suspended for the first eight games of the season. In 2017, Darkwa recorded an impressive 4.4 yards per carry with the Giants across 15 games.

Orleans Darkwa: Back from Achilles' tear
Darkwa (Achilles) is said to be 100 percent healthy and ready to sign with a team, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Darkwa tore his Achilles in October while working out for the Jaguars. He apparently made a quick recovery, returning to full strength just seven and a half months after the injury. The 27-year-old should at least find an opportunity to compete for a roster spot, considering he took 171 carries for 751 yards (4.4 average) and five touchdowns as a member of the Giants in 2017.

Orleans Darkwa: Rehabbing from torn Achilles
Darkwa is rehabbing from an Achilles rupture he suffered during a training session in October, ESPN.com's Jordan Raanan reports.
Despite leading the Giants in carries (171), rushing yards (751) and rushing TDs (five) during the 2017 campaign, Darkwa was unable to find a landing spot last offseason, with a minor knee surgery in May -- and perhaps an expectation of some guaranteed money -- playing a role in the lack of interest. He eventually settled for workouts with a few different teams, including one for the Jaguars shortly before he injured his Achilles in October. Set to turn 27 at the end of February, the veteran running back hopes to be cleared for football activities in time for OTAs this spring. Darkwa presumably will settle for whatever contract he can find this time around.

Orleans Darkwa: Trying out for Redskins
Darkwa will take part in a tryout with the Redskins on Sunday, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.
Darkwa previously worked out for the Jets in late July, only for his unemployment to continue into another month. The Redskins are in dire need of running back depth with Derrius Guice (knee) out for the season and Chris Thompson (leg), Samaje Perine (ankle) and Byron Marshall (ankle) all tending to injuries at the moment. Darkwa is a familiar face in Washington after spending the past three and a half seasons with the Giants, with whom he averaged 4.3 yards per carry and hauled in 26 of 40 targets in 48 games.

Orleans Darkwa: Visiting with Jets
The Jets have scheduled a visit with Darkwa on Saturday, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.
The workout is the second for Darkwa in a three-day span after he was checked out by the Bills on Thursday. He's also the second running back contacted by the Jets (Alfred Morris) due to the serious foot injury suffered by Elijah McGuire. Despite working behind a dismal Giants offensive line last season, Darkwa led the team with 751 rushing yards and five touchdowns on a respectable 4.4 YPC.

Darkwa worked out for the Bills on Thursday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Darkwa has reportedly drawn interest from several teams this offseason, but this is his first visit since being medically cleared for football activities in the wake of an offseason knee procedure. The 26-year-old back managed 4.4 yards per attempt last season behind a subpar Giants offensive line, but struggled in pass catching. It makes sense that Buffalo would be interested in Darkwa after his breakout season, especially given the uncertainty surrounding top running back LeSean McCoy.

Orleans Darkwa: Cleared for action
Darkwa (knee) announced via his personal twitter account that he has been medically cleared for football activities.
Darkwa underwent a minor knee procedure in early May to remove a metal plate that was originally inserted in his leg last offseason to protect a fractured tibia, which he played through in 2017. He'll now look to catch on with a team ahead of the 2018 season. He reportedly had several interested teams prior to his surgery after he averaged 4.4 yards per carry for the Giants last year. Look for him to sign on as a backup or change-of-pace running back for the coming year.

Orleans Darkwa: Undergoes minor knee procedure
Darkwa underwent minor surgery Wednesday to remove a plate that was inserted in his leg last offseason, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Darkwa's X-ray indicated that the fracture has fully healed, so the plate that limited his explosiveness has been removed and he should be ready for on-field activity in about four weeks.
Darkwa reportedly has drawn interest from a number of teams this offseason, but apparently hasn't been satisfied with the offers presented to him. It doesn't sound like he'll face any health concerns heading into NFL training camps, so the procedure shouldn't affect the market for the 26-year-old back, who averaged 4.4 yards per attempt last season behind a Giants offensive line that Pro Football Focus ranked as the 26th-best unit in the league.

Orleans Darkwa: Visiting New England
Darkwa is visiting with the Patriots on Monday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
This is Darkwa's first reported visit since the start of free agency, a surprising development given that he averaged 4.4 yards on 171 carries while reaching the end zone five times last season. His breakout campaign appeared to come at the best time possible, but he nonetheless figures to settle for a modest contract and a shot to compete for a committee role. The Giants have already signed Jonathan Stewart as a replacement, and the Patriots added Jeremy Hill to a backfield that also includes Rex Burkhead, James White and Mike Gillislee. There are probably a dozen teams that could still use another running back, but most of those squads are eyeing the NFL Draft as their likely solution.

Giants' Orleans Darkwa: May stay in New York
Darkwa could re-sign with the Giants before March 14 when free agency begins, ESPN.com's Jordan Raanan reports.
Darkwa had the best season of his career in 2017, averaging 4.4 yards on 171 carries, five of which went for touchdowns. He isn't particularly fast and doesn't offer much as a pass catcher, but his combination of size and special teams utility could be enough to warrant a multi-year deal with some guaranteed money. The Giants still have Wayne Gallman and Paul Perkins under contract, and they may consider signing Dion Lewis or drafting Saquon Barkley at No. 2 overall. The team ideally would re-sign Darkwa as a backup and special teams contributor, rather than as a crucial part of the offense. If nothing is worked out before the start of free agency, he shouldn't have much trouble lining up interest from other teams.

Giants' Orleans Darkwa: Has career game in finale
Darkwa carried 20 times for 154 yards and a touchdown Sunday against the Redskins.
Darkwa received 20 carries for just the third time this season and responded with 7.7 yards per carry and a career high in rushing yardage. The bulk of his damage came on just the second offensive play of the game, when he went 75 yards for a touchdown to give his side a lead it would never relinquish. Darkwa was ineffective in several games this season and ceded touches to Wayne Gallman at times, but he did record career highs in virtually every rushing category. He will be an unrestricted free agent after this season and could command some attention on the market from teams in need of backfield depth.

Giants' Orleans Darkwa: Scores in loss
Darkwa ran for seven yards and a touchdown on nine carries and added a nine-yard catch during Sunday's 34-29 loss to the Eagles.
The veteran plunged into the end zone for a one-yard score early in the first quarter as part of New York's 23-point first half. It was his third touchdown in five games, but his luck -- like the Giants' -- ran out early. The Giants face an offseason of significant change, and the veteran back hasn't topped four yards per carry in a game since Week 9. It makes sense that the team will look at rookie Wayne Gallman, who will almost certainly be on the squad next season, as compared to Darkwa, who faces free agency.
