Eagles' Charles Johnson: Sent to IR
The Eagles placed Johnson (ankle) on their injured reserve list Wednesday, Mike Kaye of The Newark Star-Ledger reports.
Johnson actually suffered the injury during the preseason opener, and has had lingering effects. The veteran will need to sit out a minimum of eight games, and could head to waivers if he reaches an injury settlement with the team. Johnson's absence likely won't effect the offense, considering he was battling for a depth role.

Johnson isn't practicing Monday due to an ankle injury, Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.
Johnson received the start in last Thursday's preseason win over the Jaguars and caught three of five targets for 23 yards, but it's unclear when he actually sustained the injury. The 30-year-old is considered day-to-day, so it doesn't appear to be a serious issue. However, his status for Thursday's exhibition game against the Ravens remains in doubt.

Eagles' Charles Johnson: Joins Eagles after AAF success
Johnson signed a one-year contract with the Eagles on Tuesday, Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.
Johnson was one of the top players in the Alliance of American Football, leading the now-defunct league in catches (45), targets (70) and receiving yards (687), while only Rashad Ross bested his five receiving touchdowns. The 30-year-old also has a noteworthy NFL track record, as he was selected by Green Bay in the seventh round of the 2013 draft and ended up playing 39 games for Minnesota from 2014 to 2016. Johnson even had a brief stretch of fantasy relevance late in the 2014 campaign with six straight games of at least 38 receiving yards. He could push for the No. 4 wide receiver job in Philadelphia, competing with the likes of Mack Hollins (groin), Shelton Gibson, Braxton Miller, Johnny Holton and Greg Ward.

Charles Johnson: Free to sign with NFL teams
The AAF announced Thursday that all players, including Johnson, are immediately authorized to sign with NFL teams.
Johnson was arguably the most impressive receiver in the AAF this season not named Rashad Ross, and the 30-year-old ultimately finished the year with a league-leading 45 receptions and 687 receiving yards over eight games. He should be an option for any team in need of veteran depth at wide receiver, especially since Johnson has already shown potential in the NFL ranks thanks to his 2014 season with Minnesota when Johnson caught 31 passes for 475 yards and two scores.

Charles Johnson: Leads AAF in receiving
Johnson leads the Alliance of American Football in receptions (11) and receiving yards (252) through two weeks.
Johnson is one of the bigger names in the AAF -- a 2013 seventh-round pick of the Packers who posted a 31-475-2 receiving line for the Vikings in 2014. He bounced around the NFL after playing 39 games for Minnesota from 2014 to 2016, most recently getting cut by the Jets at the end of the 2018 preseason. Johnson will turn 30 at the end of February, but he apparently still has enough juice to get another look from the NFL, assuming he makes it through the AAF campaign without any major injuries.

Jets' Charles Johnson: Catches Darnold's first pro touchdown
Johnson caught three of five targets for 45 yards and a touchdown during Friday's 17-0 win over Atlanta in the preseason opener.
Johnson is right around the roster bubble in New York, but he certainly helped his case with this performance. Former Vikings teammate Teddy Bridgewater hooked up with Johnson for a 23-yard gain late in first quarter, and the receiver made an even bigger play late in the second quarter when he caught a 14-yard touchdown pass thrown by Sam Darnold. Johnson actually caught the ball in the end zone on the previous play as well, but that one was called back due to offensive pass interference.

Johnson (knee) signed with the Jets on Monday, Brian Costello of the New York Post reports.
A 2013 seventh-round pick, Johnson made a bit of a splash while playing with Teddy Bridgewater for the 2014 Vikings, averaging 71 receiving yards over a five-week stretch late in the season. He's managed only 479 yards in his other 34 career games, most recently spending 2017 on injured reserve with the Panthers while recovering from a knee injury. Despite reuniting with his former quarterback, Johnson will be a long shot to make the final roster on a Jets team with ample competition at wide receiver.

Panthers' Charles Johnson: Heads to IR
Johnson (knee) reverted to the Panthers' injured reserve list Wednesday.
Johnson was waived Tuesday after undergoing surgery on his right knee, according to Max Henson of the team's official site. He'll need to either agree to an injury settlement or be one of the two players the Panthers activate off IR in order to have a chance at playing in 2017.

Johnson (knee) was waived/injured by the Panthers on Tuesday.
Johnson was just picked up as a free agent by Carolina in March, but his mediocre play combined with his knee injury are reasons he's headed for the waiver wire. During the 2016 season, Johnson racked up 20 receptions on 37 targets for 232 yards and zero touchdowns. If Johnson clears waivers, he'll end up on the Panthers' injured reserve list.
