Jones (illness) underwent successful open-heart surgery Thursday, Jonas Shaffer of The Baltimore Sun reports.
Jones landed on the reserve/non-football injury list Nov. 26, just three weeks after he signed a contract with the Broncos. The 2016 second-round pick indicated on his personal Instagram account Friday that the reason for his surgery relates to an anomalous coronary artery. A timetable for Jones' return has yet to be disclosed.

Ravens' Cyrus Jones: Misses spring workouts
Jones has been out all spring with what coach John Harbaugh described as a "health issue," Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports. "He had kind of an episode a few months ago. He's not cleared to practice at this time," Harbaugh said Wednesday.
While it's unclear what is keeping him from OTAs and minicamp, Jones is expected to return for training camp. Once he's back in the fold, Jones will compete for a depth role in a loaded Ravens secondary.

The news comes as rather striking considering Jones was drafted in the second round of the 2016 draft. New England is no stranger to striking moves, however, so it's not all that unconventional for the dynasty. Jones has a good chance to latch on elsewhere considering his youth and potential.

Jones tore his ACL and meniscus during the 2017 preseason and missed the entire year as a result. He's currently working with the team's rehab group while working his way back into some non-contact drills. He isn't wearing a brace, which is a sign he's nearing a full return. It's expected that he won't be limited once training camp begins and he works towards a depth role on the defense.
