Hager finally got an opportunity to play on defense after previously being limited exclusively to special teams work, and he responded with a standout performance. The 28-year-old linebacker likely earned himself more playing time on defense in next week's season finale against the Patriots.

Jets' Bryce Hager: Rises to active roster
The Jets signed Hager to the active roster Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Hager was elevated to the active roster in each of the previous two games, and now he's earned a contract on the 53-man roster. The 28-year-old linebacker has played exclusively on special teams, and that's not expected to change for the time being.

The Raiders released Hager on Sunday.
Hager landed with the Raiders earlier this month, but he apparently hasn't impressed enough to keep a roster spot. After appearing in all 16 games the first four seasons of his career, Hager took part in just five contests last year. He's now free to pursue opportunities with other clubs.

The Rams placed Hager (shoulder) on injured reserve Tuesday.
Hager watched the last three outings from the sidelines due to this injury, and the Rams will now shut him down for the season. The fifth-year pro will finish the campaign with 11 tackles (seven solo) through five contests. Cory Littleton and Troy Reeder will continue starting at inside linebacker. Hager's contract expires in March, so there's a chance he played his last game for the Rams.

Rams' Bryce Hager: Ruled out for Week 10
Hager (shoulder) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Steelers, Cam DaSilva of USA Today reports.
Hager was unable to practice at all this week, and with news coming Thursday that he would likely be placed on injured reserve, it is no surprise that he has been ruled out for Sunday's game. Troy Reeder is in line to take over for Hager at inside linebacker as long as the latter is out, which likely means the remainder of the season.

Hager wasn't able to practice Thursday, so he's already trending toward a third straight absence. If the fifth-year pro indeed lands on IR, his season would be over. Hager suffered the injury early in the first half against the Buccaneers on Sunday, and as evidenced by this news, could be forced to miss more time. The Rams didn't practice Monday, but if they did, Hager would've been a non-participant on a short week per Omar Ruiz of NFL Network, which doesn't bode well for his chances to play. The 27-year-old's practice availability throughout the week should shed more light on his chances to play Thursday.
