Top Ed Reynolds News

  • Ed Reynolds: Released by Cleveland

Reynolds (knee) was released by the Browns on Monday, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports.

After clearing waivers last week, Reynolds was initially placed on Cleveland's injured reserve, but the team ultimately released the safety on Monday and gave the IR spot to rookie Rod Johnson (knee). The 25-year-old accumulated 43 tackles in 2016 and is now free to sign with any interested team.

  • Browns' Ed Reynolds: Lands on injured reserve

Reynolds (knee) cleared waivers and reverted to the Browns' injured reserve Wednesday per the official NFL Media site's transaction log.

Although he went down with a knee injury, Reynolds figured to have a hard time making the final roster anyway. He will now spend the 2017 season on the IR.

  • Ed Reynolds: Waived/injured by Browns

The Browns waived/injured Reynolds (knee) on Tuesday.

Reynolds figured to have a hard time landing on the final roster before going down with a knee injury. He's expected to clear waivers, which will be followed by him reverting to the Browns' injured reserve.

  • Browns' Ed Reynolds: Expected to miss six weeks

Reynolds (knee) suffered a sprained medial collateral ligament during practice Saturday and will miss six weeks, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

If that timetable proves accurate, Reynolds could be ready to go for the Browns' Week 3 matchup with the Colts, but since he'll likely be far behind from a conditioning standpoint, the team could just opt to have him open the season on the Physically Unable to Perform list. Trey Caldwell could see increased reps in Reynolds' absence as the backup enough to starting free safety Derrick Kindred.

  • Browns' Ed Reynolds: Will miss significant time with knee injury

Reynolds is expected to miss significant time with the knee injury he suffered during Saturday's practice, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports.

Reynolds reportedly didn't suffer a torn ACL, but it's still unclear how severe it is and if it will need surgery. Either way, Reynolds is in line to miss a good chunk of time, putting his availability in question for both the preseason and regular-season opener. Reynolds was expected to battle for snaps as the Browns' backup free safety, which could leave more playing time for Trey Caldwell behind projected starter Derrick Kindred.

  • Browns' Ed Reynolds: Suffers knee injury

Reynolds left Saturday's practice after injuring his knee, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports.

Coach Hue Jackson said the team doesn't know the severity of Reynolds' injury yet, but don't be surprised if he's held out of the next few practices at the very least. Reynolds is slated to begin the season backing up starting free safety Derrick Kindred, though if his injury proves to be serious, Trey Caldwell would be in line to see more action.
