Walton is a restricted free agent who has played in only 30 games since being drafted by the Steelers in 2015. The anticipated return of Stephon Tuitt in 2020 does not bode well for Walton, and his future with Pittsburgh remains to be seen.

Walton (knee) was placed on injured reserve by the Steelers on Tuesday, Teresa Varley of the team's official site reports.
The move comes shortly after it was announced that Walton needs a procedure on his meniscus. The 27-year-old did not appear in a game this season and now his year is over.

Steelers' Leterrius Walton: Undergoing meniscus procedure
Walton will have surgery to repair his meniscus, essentially ruling him out for Sunday's game against the Bengals, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports.
Coach Mike Tomlin didn't reveal much in terms of details, but Walton will surely miss a week or two. His absence shouldn't shake up the Steelers' defensive dynamic since the 27-year-old hasn't been active for a game since re-signing with the team Oct. 15.

Walton signed a contract with the Steelers on Tuesday.
Walton had been without a team since being released by the Bills on Aug. 31. The 27-year-old will provide depth to Pittsburgh's defensive front after defensive end Stephon Tuitt sustained a season-ending pectoral injury.

Bills' Leterrius Walton: Signs with Buffalo
Walton agreed Wednesday to a contract with the Bills, Sal Capaccio of WGR Sports Radio 550 Buffalo reports.
Walton spent the past four seasons in Pittsburgh, logging 36 tackles and two sacks across 36 games. After the Steelers elected not to re-sign him this offseason, Walton was able to latch on with Buffalo, where he'll look to secure a depth role along the defensive line.

Steelers' Leterrius Walton: Forgettable season comes to an end
Walton was inactive for Pittsburgh's 16-13 win over Cincinnati in Week 17.
Playing in just four games this season, Walton finished with two tackles. This was a disappointing outcome for the fourth-year defensive end after he played in all 16 games in 2017. It remains to be seen where this unrestricted free agent might play next season.

Steelers' Leterrius Walton: Just one tackle in win
Walton, who recorded one tackle (solo) in the Week 17 win over the Browns, finished up the 2017 regular season with 12 tackles (nine solo) -- including two sacks -- while playing in all 16 games.
The second-year defensive end did not see much playing time this season, splitting snaps on defense and special teams. With Cameron Heyward, Stephon Tuitt and Tyson Alualu ahead of him on the depth chart, Walton is limited in the fantasy impact he can make, though he should return to play for Pittsburgh in 2018.

Steelers' Leterrius Walton: Career-high three tackles in win
Walton had three tackles (all solo) in the Steelers' 27-24 overtime win on Sunday.
The ankle injury that forced Ricardo Mathews from the game resulted in increased defensive snaps for Walton, allowing him to have a personal-best three tackles against Cleveland. He finished with eight tackles (six solo) in 10 games this season.
