The Saints had their last practice in New Orleans on Friday morning before Sunday’s Hall of Fame Game against Arizona in Canton, Ohio. They won’t have another workout at their practice facility until Aug. 13 because they will fly from Ohio to New England and practice with the Patriots for two days before the teams play an exhibition game next Thursday in Foxboro, Mass.

Injury Update: Interim coach Joe Vitt said starting CBs Jabari Greer and Patrick Robinson would not play in the Hall of Fame Game along with rookie WR Nick Toon. Greer had sports hernia surgery in Philadelphia on Thursday. Robinson has been out with a shoulder injury he sustained Sunday. Toon exited practice with a left-foot injury on Thursday.

“We think it (Toon’s return)’s probably going to be anywhere from six to 10 days,” Vitt said.

It’s not a new injury for Toon, a fourth-round pick from Wisconsin. He missed the Senior Bowl and did not participate in the NFL scouting combine due to a lingering left foot injury. He broke scar tissue in the foot that came from surgery to repair a stress fracture in 2011, forcing him to miss Wisconsin’s spring practice. He sat out the Indiana game because of pain in the foot but still finished the year with 64 catches for 926 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Mum’s the Word: Vitt refused to say what playing time his starters and backups would get for the Hall of Fame Game, adding the Saints would use a similar plan to past preseason openers, particularly their last appearance in Canton in 2007. Look for quarterback Drew Brees to play one or two series, followed by Chase Daniel, Luke McCown and Sean Canfield.

Play of the Day: On a relatively light day with no hitting, Daniel threw a deep strike to WR Adrian Arrington in an 11-on-11 drill. Arrington beat CB Elbert Mack easily to haul in the pass.

Would-be Play of the Day: McCown threw a frozen rope on a deep out pattern to WR Joe Morgan, leading him perfectly. Morgan ran under it in stride and dropped it. Morgan, who has had a good camp while trying to earn an active roster spot, also let a pass go threw his hands and turn into an interception for reserve CB Kamaal McIlwain.

Quotable: Veteran WR Lance Moore on Morgan: “He’s a freak athletically. He’s big, he’s strong, he’s fast. Even knowing that he’s like that, the things that he does on the field, you still say, ‘wow.’”
