Sunday was a big day for Marshon Lattimore. First, his Saints rolled over the Packers in a stunning 38-3 blowout. Then the Pro Bowl cornerback reportedly inked a five-year extension worth up to $100 million, making him one of the NFL's highest-paid players at his position. It was also a painful Sunday. According to NFL Network, Lattimore is suddenly considered week to week after undergoing surgery for a thumb injury he suffered during New Orleans' Week 1 victory.

ProFootballTalk first reported the news of Lattimore's surgery. The 25-year-old corner initially left the field for a single defensive series in the second half of Sunday's game, only to return with a cast on his right wrist. Lattimore finished the day with three tackles and a pass deflection, but a week-to-week designation suggests he's far from a safe bet to suit up in Week 2 against the Panthers on Sept. 19.

In Lattimore's absence, the Saints figure to rely on veteran reserve Desmond Trufant, who briefly replaced the former on Sunday, as a starting outside corner opposite rookie Paulson Adebo.

Lattimore's five-year deal, which ties him to New Orleans for the long haul, includes $97.6 million with $44 million fully guaranteed, as ESPN first reported.
