Terrell Suggs will begin 2012 on the PUP list, the Ravens announced Monday morning. Baltimore's standout outside linebacker partially tore his Achilles tendon this spring.
Joining Suggs on PUP is wide receiver David Reed, who is still recovering from an ACL tear he suffered against Cleveland last December.
The Ravens, who had 81 players on their roster after Sunday’s cuts, moved Suggs and Reed to IR to help reduce their total toward the 75-player maximum by the 4 p.m. Monday deadline. In addition, LB Stevie Baggs (undisclosed), LB Darryl Blackstock (groin), S Emanuel Cook (broken leg) and DT Ryan McBean (broken ankle) were moved to injured reserve.
Suggs and Reed will sit out the first six games of the regular season and will be given a three-week grace period to return to the field without counting toward the 53-man roster. All NFL teams must trim their rosters to 53 by Aug. 31 at 9 p.m.
