No surprise: Patriots cut veteran RB Joseph Addai
It's no surprise that the Patriots released veteran RB Joseph Addai. He struggled in minicamp and wouldn't have had much of a role, even if he had made the cut.

The Patriots' decision to release RB Joseph Addai was not a surprise. He struggled to stay on the field in minicamp, and he didn't figure to have much of a role on this team.
It puts the spotlight on undrafted RB Brandon Bolden, who will get more reps. Eric Kettani can play both HB and FB, so he provides depth.
But expect the Patriots to add another back at some point. Removing Addai from the picture solidifies the lead roles of Stevan Ridley and Shane Vereen. The second-year backs will fight out for the top spot. Ridley had the most prominent role while Vereen struggled with hamstring injuries.
