To say that it's been a tumultuous week for the Chicago Bears might be an understatement. Their quarterback is under scrutiny for his poor play and Chicago's defensive coordinator resigned with little explanation. It doesn't get any easier for Matt Eberflus' team as they face the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs on the road this Sunday. The Bears (0-2) enter off a 27-17 road loss to Tampa Bay, while Kansas City (1-1) defeated Jacksonville, 17-9. The teams played four years ago, a 26-3 Chiefs win in Chicago.
Kickoff from GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium is scheduled for 4:25 p.m. ET. Kansas City is listed as a 12.5-point favorite and the over/under for total points scored is 48 in the latest Bears vs. Chiefs odds via SportsLine consensus. Before making any Chicago vs. Kansas City picks, you need to see the NFL predictions and betting advice from the computer simulation model at SportsLine.

Why the Bears can cover
Last week, Chicago trailed by three with approximately two minutes left and had the ball inside their own 5-yard line. But Justin Fields threw a crushing interception right to Tampa Bay's Shaq Barrett, which was returned for the clinching score. Between Fields' issues with the play calling and his lack of freedom to improvise and the resignation of Bears defensive coordinator Alan Williams on Wednesday, there is plenty of turmoil currently surrounding Chicago. While the franchise's 12 game losing streak seems likely to end soon, this week against a tough Kansas City team seems like an uphill battle.
If there's a positive for the Bears, it's that new acquisition, wide receiver D.J. Moore caught six passes for 104 yards in last week's loss. After being held to 2-25 against Green Bay in Week 1, it seems as if Moore is developing more chemistry with Fields. Chicago's rushing attack must do more against Kansas City if they are to find success on the scoreboard. Last year, Fields rushed for 1,143 yards, the second highest single season mark by a QB. This year, in two games, Chicago's QB has 13 attempts for 62 yards, including only three yards rushing last week. See which team to pick here.
Why the Chiefs can cover
Patrick Mahomes' offense hasn't looked as sharp thus far this season, having only scored 37 points combined in their first two contests against the Lions and Jaguars. But things seem to be turning the corner as evidenced by Mahomes' 305 yards passing and two touchdowns in last week's victory. Star tight end Travis Kelce missed Week 1 but scored in Week 2. This week could be the get-right spot for KC's offense, but if so, their receivers need to step up. Thus far Skye Moore, Kadarius Toney, Rashee Rice, and Justin Watson have not provided Mahomes with anyone he can trust fully similar to Kelce.
Kansas City should find rushing lanes available against the weaker Bears defensive line so running back Isiah Pacheco could be in for a fine day. Last week, he totaled 70 yards rushing on only 12 carries against Jacksonville, including a game-high 31-yard run. On defense, star defensive end Chris Jones made his 2023 regular season debut last week, and the effects were immediately felt. The Chiefs sacked Trevor Lawrence four times and could make life miserable for Fields on Sunday. See which team to pick here.
