WR Ryan Broyles, who signed a four-year, $3.68 million rookie contract with Detroit, said the NFLPA's advice on financial planning at the 2012 NFL Rookie Premiere helped him realize the importance of preparing early for life after football. “I felt like that was the most important thing, for me at least, to learn as much as I can [about financial planning],” Broyles wrote on his DetroitLions.com blog. “I took a lot of notes, so I won’t be like 60-70 percent of the guys that leave the league broke. That’s not the category I want to fall into.”
